Date night outfit

Last week, my husband’s uncle took us out to the Westin Sundial restaurant in downtown Atlanta. I will spend a little time sharing about our experience there in Wedsnesday’s post but today, I wanted to share about my outfit. The pictures were mostly taken at my house so the background is not very pretty but I wanted to share how you can shop your closet to create a fun date night look.

I actually have not been doing so well with trying to be careful with my spending lately. While I am sticking to my list (I wanted to add skirts to my closet and that is what I purchased last), I have not stuck to my timeline. So I will start a little no Amazon and no clothes challenge which for me will match up timewise with lent. I hope that giving myself a purpose or a reason not to spend will help me more successful. In its place, I will try to focus on other things than adding material things to the house during lent and I am going to try to focus on the spirit of giving time to others, be more compassionate, almsgiving and such.

Back to the outfit though! I will start with the pretty picture that we took in the glass elevator at the hotel. The restaurant is on the 73rd floor of the hotel and has beautiful views of the city.

I do not have many fancy clothes in my closet since we do not have much occasion to go to parties or fancy dinners. There is no dress code for this restaurant but I wanted to mark the occasion with a special outfit. My first decision was which dress to wear.

This dress was the dressiest dress in my closet. I love the neckline and even though it is winter now, the weather was going to be mild but a little rainy. I chose to wear leggings under the dress for warmth as well as for comfort: I did not have to worry about how short the dress was since I would be modest with the leggings.

I was just glad I still fit in this dress: it has been probably been a few years since I wore it last. My Vince Camuto booties are my dressier winter shoes and I love that I can walk comfortably in them despite the height. We ended up walking a couple of blocks to the hotel even though we could have parked right accross the street for the same price.

A little makeup and some shiny earrings and that is as good as it gets for this mom of 4 shopping my closet and not spending a dime. I am wearing my beloved green “leather” jacket.

I will leave you with a funny observation from my 9 year old son. Now remember that I really never wear any makeup and the only makeup I wore this particular evening was mascara, eye shadow and eyeliner. This is is what he said: “why are you wearing so much makeup? You look freaky!”. Nothing like your child to boost your confidence!

We had a lovely evening and it was really nice to go out and me adults and not just mom and dad.

A bientôt!
