Accessories are amazing!

If you are traveling or if you have a small wardrobe, accessories can be a game changer. They can transform an outfit by a switch of a shoe or an earring or by their addition such as a scarf or a necklace. They can be more economical than adding a blouse or a pair of pants to your closet and if you are traveling they do not take much space (apart from shoes).

Now the earrings I am sharing are not economical as Nickel and Suede earrings run usually around $25 to $32 but I love them so much that I have collected a dozen pairs over the past few years. They recently went up in price so I often try to buy them when they run a sale or when they have an earring of the month which is nowadays $22. While I do have a few pendant necklaces, I find that I don’t reach for them as often as my scarves unless it is close to summer when scarf are just too warm (even the light weight ones). Shoes can range greatly in prices but the ones depicted in today’s post were fairly inexpensive with the striped wedge being a child size shoe from Target (maybe 5 years back), the leopard wedge I bought a couple weeks ago at 20% off for less than $30 and the Sanuk sandals were also child size from Amazon (around $15).

Now to the outfit: I started with the base of a pair of skinny jeans (these are Wit and Wisdom) and a white peasant blouse. I have had this blouse for many years and love the pretty details on it.

Leopard wedges and earrings

If you are to choose some earrings and shoes to make a statement, I would suggest a print. They make more of a statement than a solid and give more interest. It allows you some simple and subtle pattern mixing when you so desire it. The reason I like Nickel and Suede earrings so much is that they are light weight, of great quality and Nickel and Suede is a family owned business. It is amazing to see Kilee’s success and the growth of her  and her husband’s company. I wear these leopard spotted earrings quite often.

The leopard wedges from Target are quite fun! I love them with pants and skirts alike.

Excuse the home pedicure: I have a gift card to use when this whole stay at home quarantine time ends but until then I bought a couple small bottles of nail polish to give my toes some color. I haven’t painted my own nails in years so I sure need some practice.

Black and white wedges and earrings

This outfit is not very much different than the first one but the different shoes and earrings do give the person with a limited clothes options a variety. I have been surprised at how much I actually do wear these spotted cork earrings. They are pretty fun and definitely add interest to an outfit. I always wear size medium in my Nickel and Suede earrings.

I still can’t believe I found these fun little sandals in the kids’ section all those yeas ago. If you wear size 7 and below, just add 2 to child’s size (I wear children’s size 5). You can often find similar shoes to adult’s for less money!

Sanuk sandals, scarf and yes, another pair of N&S earrings

What a difference a scarf makes! This fun tassel scarf was a surprise discovery at a local boutique last year. For some reason I cannot resist a scarf with tassels. I love the spring colors of this one and I have worn it with a variety of outfits including wearing it in Paris, France last summer. A scarf is a simple way to give dimension to an ouftit and you can thrift them, find them in the dollar spot at Target or even make one from an old tee.

I bought the coral nova earrings before they were discontinued and they have been a great way to add a pop of color to my spring outfits. The coral is more pink than orange and looks great combined with a yellow top. I want to pair it with teal/turquoise one day (but I need a blouse or tee of that color first).

The Sanuk sandals have been handy in many different situations. I have used them as slippers/slip ons on trips abroad and at the beach, and just to add a little fun to a simple outfit. They are quite comfortable! They pair well with any of the items in my closet.

So there you have it: accessories especially colorful and patterned ones can transform your outfit with less of an impact on your wallet.
