Casual Royal Blue Tshirt Dress Style

When I packed my bag for our week in New Orleans, I packed expecting heat so I chose several dresses and 2 pairs of wide leg pants. I wore this dress on another vacation last summer (when we spent a long weekend on Tybee Island) with a kimono and sandals (here). This time I went very casual with white sneakers and white and black polka dot earrings.

I cannot abide anything too tight and constricting when I am going to be walking around in the heat and humidity so this dress was a great choice. I love this color and have a few more pieces in my closet in this royal blue. We walked around the zoo that morning and in the afternoon, we walked from our rental to Magazine Street. It was a lot of walking!

In the afternoon, the boys were exhauted from walking so I ended up giving them piggy back rides (the 4 year old and the 8 year old). The length of the dress was great because it didn’t ride up and expose too much leg. It is also just flowy enough to not be too form fitting.

I really like to wear a small crossbody when we travel with just the essentials. I then pack sunscreen and other necessities in a packback with food or waters. We sure drank a lot of water on this trip with all of our walking.

Everyone wore a hat and sunscreen and we still got some small sunburns this first day: not enough sunscreen on our necks! I picked up a large straw sunvisor after this vacation so I would be able to alternate between hats in the summer. I don’t not need extra sun on my face and I typically only wear caps when wearing workout clothes.

This was my favorite spot in the zoo: the shade, the picturesque setting and a little water feature were very peaceful. It didn’t hurt that I was solo at that time with only one kiddo.

My Garmin tracked my steps: this was the day we walked the most with about 22,000 steps. I ended up going back to the car for our food cooler backpack (next picture) and next time I will remember to just bring it along.

I need to find some thinner ice packs to put in it: the ones I have are large and heavy and make the cooler heavy to carry. But it is one of my favorite summer buys (we’ve had it a year or two) and very practical.

Who says you can’t look cute and comfortable in the summer heat and out and about? I really enjoyed seeing women dress up in New Orleans: might have been the area we were in (the garden district and near Magazine street with all of the restaurants) but this is the first time in a while I saw so many cute outfits being worn out and about.

A bientôt!
