Mini Skirt For Skirtmas in July

Today kicks off a July fashion series presented by Ada and I featuring skirts. We will be sharing 12 styles of skirts over the month of July so make sure to stop by the blog Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays for some skirt inspiration. I will have a few travel posts sprinkled in on some Fridays but for this month those will be my posting days. Today we are sharing mini skirts: a mini is a skirt with its hemline well above the knees, generally at mid-thigh level.

I thrifted this WHBM skirt years ago and I have styled it before on the blog probably in a daily outfit recap or two. You can find it here in this post and funny enough a few other skirts I will be sharing this month are included in that post.I went for a simple summer look today and focused on the black stripes and kept jewelry minimal with small stud earrings.

The skirt was a little longer than I remembered so to make it more of a mini skirt, I folded over the waist and add a wide belt to hide the waistline. I always forget that this fun skirt has belt loops. It also has pockets which is always a plus!

Even though my son hasn’t driven much this summer, I am getting more comfortable with his driving. He drove me down to this spot for pictures and I wasn’t even nervous! He has a couple more months before his driving test so we need to practice some more parking.

I think my husband would enjoy this outfit: I have come up with several date night outfits that I have not worn yet out: I need to plan some date nights or take these outfits on our 20th anniversary trip in October.

As a blogger who does fashion posts, I have gotten used to getting my picture taken and am learning how to stand and pose. This skirt from this angle might not be the most flattering but really does it matter? Sometimes in our quest to look good or a certain way, we forget that was is more important and will shine through is who we are inside. That is what makes us attractive. The clothes are just a nice outer layer!

Don’t forget to check out Ada’s post with her mini! I love how she picked up her skirt color in her sandals and that blouse is just so adorable!

A bientôt!

Thank you! I like doing the look in the distance look: it’s fun and different from my smiley pictures.

Love this look! I have a ton of skirts and I rotate through them when school starts. I do like to make sure all of my skirts work with my white or black tops because that seems to help me wear them more.
Teaching my twins to drive was the hardest thing I had to teach them! I would recommend you go to the test center and practice after hours when it gets close. One of mine failed the parallel parking the first time. Also, YouTube might have a video of your route with pointers. We found that helpful, too.

I think they make them go on the street/highway at the test center. I need to see though or have him ask his friends. He hasn’t driven much this summer since he is never ready for tennis, he has to eat in the car and not drive.

You look fabulous! I was surprised that my son only had to back into one spot for his driving test (and using the driving academy car he though it was easy since they taught him exactly what to line up where for backing in)… then once he had his lisence I had to take him out and teach him how to back our car into spots. LOL

I just love that you pulled it up and used the belt to make it shorter Mireille. That’s the way to be the boss of your clothes.
I find that I wear most of my minis in the winter with OTK boots. But I still have a few that make it out in the summer.
    XOXO

It’s funny because I was taking pictures with another skirt yesterday and I was trying to pull it down: I ended up using a top that was longer than the skirt in the back so I would be more comfortable if I needed to bend down!

Thanks, Michelle! It’s been a learning curve with taking pictures but I am thankful we are usually pretty quick and don’t have to take a ton for me to be satisfied with them. Otherwise my boys would quit!

Ha ha! The running is definitely helping my calves! Wish I would stop eating so many desserts, then I would see the benefits of the exercise in other places lol!

3 skirts a week! I am proud for shopping my closet for these posts apart from a skort I bought which I already have worn at least 3 times.

Such a classic black and white outfit! I love mini skirts for summer too – now the kids are older I feel I can wear them more as I’m not spending so much time ont eh groudn with them, haha! Last summer was definitley the summer of mini skirts for me, I added quite a few to my wardrobe too! I’m looking forward to wearing them more next summer as well!

Thank you for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are having a nice weekend 🙂
