Favorite board games
I grew up playing board games with my brothers. I remember playing Monopoly and if I didn’t get Board Walk I would give up! We played Scrabble, Mille Bornes, the Game of Life and a few more games. Once of my favorite games that I wish I could find was a game that had you touring France following different routes: I am hoping to find the game for sale somewhere on my trip but as of right now I don’t see it anywhere for sale.
Since I try to limit screen time for my children, when they are not playing outside or reading, I encourage them to play board games. Most of the time, they ask me to play with them. I usually do as long as it is not a long board game: I do not have much patience for that. I hope that by playing with my boys, we are making memories!
Favorite card games
The boys like to play Uno, Monopoly Deal, spoons and BS. These are all games that are also practical for traveling.
Favorite games for the younger crowd
My son N. is 5 years old. He is pretty smart for his age, and picks up on a lot of games fairly quickly, but he does prefer playing certain games where he has more fun. His favorites games are probably Pop the Pig and Zingo. Both of these games require some math skills and counting. You roll the die for Pop the Pig and press on his head and his belly increases in size until his shirts “pops”. Zingo is a bingo game with numbers. He either has to count the number of object/picture on each square or read the number word.
We also like to play Candyland and Chutes and Ladders of course! Those garmes do drive me crazy if we are sent back to the beginning repeatedly!
Favorite games for 7 years olds and older
My two oldest enjoy Monopoly and Risk but if we are all playing together, we like to play Clue, Yatzee, Racko and Carcassonne
Needless to say, we have a lot of board games. We do go through phases when we do not play games for a week or 2 and then will play games every evening before bedtime. Hope some of these spark your interest for either your family, or as gifts for family members or friends. And of course, there are many games out there for the adults too. I really wish I had a game night with my girlfriends but we all live far from each other and with children and schedules, it is very difficult to organize!

We love games too!!! As a teacher I’ve noticed so many children do not know how to play games and often don’t have the patience to play them either, which is too bad. I need to check this Racko game out. We have a stash of games here at home and also at the cabin. It’s one of my favorite family times together. Two games that we got for everyone to enjoy, that are quick, are 5 Seconds and Spot It. Both lots of fun and you can stop whenever.

You have a really nice collection! I used a lot of games when I was a speech therapist in the schools, but there are a few I haven’t heard of that I need to check out!

I miss board games. My brother and I used to play all the time as kids.

My brothers actually still play boards with me and the kids when they visit: probably why they are the favorite uncles!

Ah, this post brings back a lot of memories. I think I have played all these games at one time or another.

I do have some great memories of playing with my brothers and also even with my parents when they lived in Florida. Games have always been a big part of our life and I have tried to instill that love of board games to my boys.
