Packing for an international flight for kids

In less than a week, we will be traveling to Spain and France for a couple of weeks. Because our trip spans over 2 countries, it will probably be a lot warmer in Spain than the North of France so we have to be prepared for different weather scenarios. I hope that we will be able to spend a couple of hours at the beach in Spain’s Costa Brava so we are bringing our bathing suits.

In keeping with my desire to be a light packer, each child’s oufits will be packed in packing cubes. I should be able to do laundry at the end of the first week so I am packing the following for each child:

  • 1 pair jeans
  • 2 pairs sweatpants
  • 3 pairs of shorts
  • 6 tshirts
  • 1 polo shirt
  • underwear and socks, 2 pairs of pjs
  • 1 rain jacket
  • 1 sweatshirt

Each child will wear their tennis shoes, hopefully we won’t have a mishap like our last trip in France where I had to buy my youngest at the time a new pair of shoes because he stepped in a large puddle of water at Disneyland Paris.

There is one more medium cube holding bathing suits and rain jackets.

This is how it all fits in packing cubes. The medium cubes fit at the bottom of the carryon sized suitcase. I added two flat gifts than layered 2 more medium cubes.

Since my oldest is taller than me, his clothes take more space. I did not take pictures of this clothes but they fit in a large cube that spans the whole bottom of the suitcase. I am also packing my 5 year old’s knight outfit since he likes to dress up and we will be visiting different medieval castles minus the shield. My friend Veronique from JoliKrea made this for him a few years ago.

A bientôt!
