Porch makeover
We have a covered porch on the back side of our house which faces the children’s trampoline. It is nice in the fall and spring when the mosquitoes are hibernating. My husband’s grill and smoker stay on the porch because it is about the only spot where the wind doesn’t blow crazy (well, as crazy). My mother in law’s treadmill was there for most of a year but when we put it out to the street, I decided I wanted to make the space cozy but on a small budget. The items I started with were a red bistro set I had bought at Kroger several years back.
Behind the bistro table and chairs is my new summer purchase: I found the little sofa bench on Wayfair on sale and added 2 $5 striped pillows I had found at Home Depot. Thankfully it is good outdoor furniture since we have had some monsoon rains and the pillows dry really quickly. The outdoor carpet was a great find at 5 and below for $5!
I made a sign with leftover wood and my cricut and will leave it all year long: Summer Vibes!
I made a tic tac toe game with some wood rounds and a leftover piece of felt. Hopefully the boys will play with it!
At the beginning of the summer, I bought a cart from IKEA and a couple tin containers. I haven’t really figured out what I am going to use the containers for but they follow my color scheme and are just decorative for now.
I really like my black and white with red accent color scheme. I have some lights to put up (also found at 5 and below but I need to buy a few more strands!). I think that my total budget is around 240 dollars (couch:150, pillows: 10, carpet: 5, lights -including 3 extra strands: 25, cart: 30, containers: 20?). Now I have a space that I enjoy spending time in (I am writing my post there at this moment) and that will be fun for company! We might add another seat next summer but for now, I love it!
A bientôt!

That little sofa is the perfect summer find! I absolutely love makeovers and your porch is no exception–it turned out so well. I really like the pinkish table! And that bar cart is super stylish. It will be so fun to spend time out there as summer winds down and into the fall. Have a great long weekend!
