How many boots do you need?
I guess if we were talking about real necessity the need would be for one or two pairs of boots. But as many of us like to wear different boots with different outfits and as weather might require one boot over another, today I am sharing the boots in my closet. I have not included booties. I do not own any OTK boots and the only new pair this year is the black riding boots from Target. The others are at least a couple years old. I do love that boots usually stay in my closet for quite a while.
Black riding boots
These are the boots that I typically wear with my skirts and dresses. I really prefer boots that do not have a heel as they are easier to walk in and fit my life style. These are my only new pair of boots this year. I did not have black boots for 2 years ago having ruined my last pair using my feet to stear my sled in our backyard (which is why I bought a pair of sorel boots and a pair of hunter boots that year both on sale). These are the Universal Thread pair from Target. I love the traction on them, the buckle and the comfort. Target carries another pair of cheaper black riding boots that I did not find as comfortable.
Of course, I wear these boots with jeans as well or other denim colors.
I am hoping that with care, these will last several years. They are not high end boots so I am sure they will get show some wear and tear eventually but so far so good.
Grey boots
These are my second favorite pair of boots. Again a low heel and I love the fuzzy interior of these. They are very cozy on colder days. They are at least 5 years old and are Bjorndal. I remember getting them with a $10 off coupon at Rack Room shoes and them still being around $50 or $60. This Bjondal Sebastian pair is similar in looks without the coziness.
Seeing that ouftit with the poncho makes me want to repeat the exact same outfit! Pairing down my closet and keeping only items I truly love and wear makes me feel so good. While I am not shopping this month after that denim jacket I bought on the 2nd, I did buy a number of things in November and so this past week, I did another walk through of my closet and drawers and donated a few grocery bags of clothes and purses.
Cognac boots
While these are more caramel than cognac in color, I think having a pair of cognac boots is a great addition to one’s closet. These actually need to be replaced as they have spots on them from hot cocoa being spilled on them a couple years ago. There are also a couple spots that are bare. I think they are suede.
The boots are wedges which are still comfortable and trendy. I will be looking to replace them in January or February hopefully when boots start going on sale.
This is one of the better angles of the boots where the spots are not as visible.
Brown boots
I actually do not wear these boots very often so they too are quite a few years old and holding up well. I buy most of my boots in size 7 nowadays and these are size 6.5. They still fit comfortably but between the lack of extra space and the small heel, I do not wear them as much. I will make a point though to style them more often this winter because I do like their look.
The last two pairs of boots I own are my red Hunter boots and my sorel boots.
Boots for the weather
So depending on where you live you may one of these types of boots, you may want one of both of the following types of boots. While we do not get snow often in the south, we occasionnally see snow. Two years ago, we had two nice snowstorms by Georgia standards. My sons and I are hoping that we will get snow once again this year since we didn’t see any last winter.
The only pair of boots not portrayed in an outfit are my Sorel boots since I have not had the opportunity to wear with our mild weather so far. I only wear them if it is really really cold (20 or less) or if there is snow. They were a great buy on sale!
We do get lots of rain on occasion, so earlier in the fall I was pulling my rainboots once or twice a week!
As a reminder, if you have feet size 7 or smaller, don’t forget to shop the children’s department when looking at more expensive shoewear. I did that with my Hunter boots and my Keens sandals.
So I guess I would say that you should have between 5 or 6 pairs of boots in you closet (not counting booties). Anything more is just icing on the cake!

Thank you! I need to wear them more!

I was recently wondering how many boot(ies) were reasonable to own! I don’t think I’m a boots person just yet. I really think I need a warmer brown pair, either dark or cognac.

I think I have 3 pairs of booties and 1 pair of open toe booties. I wear them more in the fall and the boots typically more in the winter.

Such a great collection of boots! Loving those Bjorndal (I’ve not heard of this brand before!) I had a pair of rainboots but donated them as they were just too high up on me. Great tip to check the kid department. I’m a size 8 and think kids sizes convert up to that size.

Add 2 to kids’ size! Doesn’t hurt to check and the kids’ Hunter boots are definitely a lil shorter.

I love riding boots. I have a few wellies, and some riding boots that I wear throughout the year. Great styles. I love Sorel boots! <3

Hoping for some cold soon so I can wear the Sorel ones!

I actually only have about 6 pairs now that I purged quite a few when we moved. I do have a snakeskin pair that is preloved and is great for dress up.
XOXO

Nice job, Jodie! My goal this year has been to keep only what we use, clothewise and otherwise. Just donated about 6 blankets that we never use but I will replace 2 with some super soft ones I saw at Walmart today for our loft. Got some nice quality ones from Nordstrom last year for everyone for the downstairs and they are used every day even in summer.

The answer is – I need a lot! 🙂 Those red rain boots are the cutest! Love the shine.

You have some lovely boots. You can never have enough boots and shoes. I find it hard to get long ones to fit me as I have big calves from running. Love them though. Thanks for sharing at Creative Mondays 🙂 Hope you can join us tomorrow.

Thanks, Claire! I try to not accumulate too much so I keep it my collection paired down.

I think you have a great collection of boots! Lots of different ones and definitely not too many! I have three pairs of ankle boots and a pair of tall boots – I always want to add more to my collection but I’m picky and they have to be perfect so I don’t buy them often!
Hope that your week is off to a good start! We went to the Enchanted Gardens yesterday afternoon to see the Christmas lights which was beautiful 🙂

Thank you! I like that boots last many years, so I do not buy a pair very often.

Great selection of boots, all stylish and practical. A girl can never have too many in my book. Boots last for many years and never really date, that’s my story anyway.

that is very true!! they last a lot longer than sandals and any other shoe in my closet

Those wedge brown boots are my fave! The color is gorgeous!

Great collection of boots! You’re right we may only “need” one or two pairs, but it sure is fun styling the different looks…OTK, booties, Mid-calf, heel, no heel etc!
mimifce
so many different kinds out there!
Joanne
This is the first year I have really and truly embraced boots and I think I have ordered 6 pairs! It’s a bit nuts I know but I felt like I needed black and brown ones, fuzzy warm snowy ones, slouchy pant ones, booties for those fall days… My husband doesn’t share my enthusiasm for boots though and can not understand why I need more than one pair. I love those gray ones!!
mimifce
Ha ha, yes hubbies don’t usually get it!
Lisa Richardson
You have a great boot collection! I wish I had more use for my Hunters because I’d get a red pair too. I have black and love the few times I get to wear them. Thanks for linking up with us at Style Six! XO

Thanks, Lisa! Today I am wearing my Sorel boots even though it is only going to be cold till noon so I will switch them out later. Just wanted a pic with them, lol!

I lOVe boots and booties.. Your patterned black and white dress is very pretty! Those boots look great and comfortable too. I really love your grey poncho wiht your taupe boots. The poncho is so elegant! I have a pair of flatter taupe otk boots that are worn more often due to the lower heel. Great looks!
thanks for linking!

You have a very nice collection of boots! I have quite a collection myself, but I live in Wisconsin where boots are a necessity.
mimifce
You definetely can use bootsere! and lots of boots there!
Liz Klebba
What a loaded question! I don’t think there can be enough boots! Unfortunately, I live in a climate that only manages to be boot comfy for about four months of the year… I had a rush of excitement when it actually got cold enough for boots in October this year. (Sad, but true!) Love your collection. It looks like you get plenty of time to wear them!
mimifce
We have about 4 months for boots too. I usually start wearing them in November till first week of March.
Shelbee on the Edge
These are so cute and such a great variety to make up a versatile boot wardrobe. I have not worn very many tall boots yet this year. Although I have probably 50 different pairs! But I do like a flat boot for all the mom-running!
