Outfits for a Vacation in the Mountains
I shared my packing list for our week in North Carolina on a blog post a little while ago (read here) so I decided it would be fun to share my actual outfits. The advantage of going on vacation is that it gives some new and interesting backdrops for outfit pictures. I did forget my running shoes and my dress at home but probably wouldn’t have worn either so it worked out well. The weather started at about 70 degrees in the morning and went up to the mid 80s during the day. Most of our activities involved being in the outdoors.
This was my outfit for visiting the Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee: I had fun with some pattern mixing. I am finding that these camo joggers are getting too loose around the waist and sag during the day so I am going to see if my mom can take them in a little.
My Keen water shoes were a great choice for this trip since we enjoyed dipping our feet in water at every opportunity. However, the poor old things bit the dust mid trip and I was left with flip flops for the water! I do have a turquoise pair at home so those will be the ones I will wear until they fall apart too. Both are years old and have been very practical for hiking and water play.
We traveled through the Great Smoky National Park to get to the Tuckaleechee Caverns which are in Tennessee. We stopped a couple of times to enjoy the majestic views. I figured the hiking boots would be great for walking in a wet cavern and I was right: it was slippery in spots.
I think graphic tees and fashion sneakers are perfect for vacations: a well fitting tee and fun sneakers are both comfortable and fashionable. I think this is one of my favorite outfits of the trip. The extra pop of color with the earrings doesn’t hurt!
I added a souvenir light weight sweatshirt when it poured on us. I like when a souvenir is useful and not too touristy looking. I think the color of the sweatshirt will work throughout the year.
Camo joggers and sneakers on repeat with a different graphic tee and earrings: when you find a combo that works, be creative with it!
No more water shoes which I really could have used this particular day since we spent the day by the river, skipping rocks, walking on the large walk and enjoying the water. I did have my bathing suit under and brought a pair of workout shorts for climbing the rocks. I spent the first part of the morning sitting on a log and enjoying the running water.
My last outfit is my traveling outfit. Surpringly, I did not wear a pair of earrings as I did not have a pair with me that I thought would work well with the outfit. So I accesorized with my new bear denim cap. SInce one of the boys lost my grey DC cap in the river, I am glad I bought this new one.
A bientôt!

Love your travel outfits and I had to comment as we love the Smokey Mountains. We rode the SMRailroad years ago in a 1940s train card. Love the waterfalls and we have been to these places- as you know , we live in NC. Looks like a great escape!

Thanks, Kathrine! They are getting a little too loose so I need to do something about that but I love how they work with so much.

I love the print mixing especially in the first photo. I bet your mom can fix those joggers easily. Things always feel better when they fit better.

Yes! I love the joggers and spent enough on them that I want them to fit better! All that running is getting rid of my muffin top! I sized down in these and should have sized down 2!

It’s one of my favorite tees.

Lots of cute and functional outfits. I almost always buy a sweatshirt on vacation; I don’t ever pack one so that I am “forced” to get one when it gets cooler at night or on a particular day.
mimifce
Ha ha! I ended up wearing the one I bought several times.

You are so cute, Mireille! I love all of your mountain attire. We just went to a cabin in the Finger Lakes this past weekend and I hardly took a picture at all of my vacation clothes. Now I wish I had! Darn it! Thanks for sharing and linking up.
