Winter Cozy Outfit with Thrifted Sweater

Last month, I drove up to Chattanooga to visit my friend Rachel and thrift together. We stopped by 3 stores and I spent a total of $14. This Time and True sweater was $3 and I almost did not see since it was on a rack that I skipped because the items were size large. However when Rachel showed me the color (I love olive) and the cute embroidery (I love embroidery!), I decided to try it on. It’s definitely an oversized sweater on me but in a pleasant way and I am so glad I got it!

My goal when thrifting (and shopping in general) is finding unique pieces that I can work into my wardrobe. I also have to be careful that they are my style: while I am all of trying new things (I got the prettiest velvet long sleeve bodysuit on clearance at Old Navy), I really wanted to make sure that I actually like what I am buying and will wear it. I have made the mistake when thrifting of buying things that were not me.

These pictures were taken mid December as the weather started getting colder but the scarf was sufficient to keep me warm. My combat boots are old from Target and my black jeans are the Old Navy Rockstar skinny jeans. I bought them last year when they were on sale for $15 (their best sale price on their jeans). They really picked up all kinds of fuzz from my scarf on that day.

I’ve gotten rid of several purses over the past few years, added a few and have created a small collection that I rotate throughout the year. This boho purse with a fringe is one I typically wear for a month or two in the fall or winter. All of my purses can be used as crossbodies.

It really is unique. It was the only one of its kind in the local boutique when I picked it up a couple years ago. I also feel like it would be great for a fall music festival. I could really create a fun boho outfit with this and my cowboy boots!

Aren’t the blousy sleeves fun? The elastic at the wrist is practical for doing chores or if I want to wear bracelets.

I am sorry all of the fuzz on my pants distract from the sleeve. I had planned to take care of it before taking the blog pictures but I forgot. We took these on the way to tennis.

I also wore this sweater with my black velvet skirt for during the Christmas break for my festive look as well as one day after church. It is soft and comfortable.

A bientĂ´t!
