Lake Chatuge, Hiawassee, GA

One of our favorite vacation days was the day we rented a pontoon and spent half a day on Lake Chatuge in Hiawassee. We packed some snacks, wore our bathing suits and made sure we had our sunscreen on. It had been quite a few years since we had been on a lake and probably 17 years or more since we actually rented a pontoon ourselves (we typically visit my husband’s uncle who has a lake house in Alabama). At first the boys were not sure their dad could drive a boat, but they soon realized they were safe.

We also rented a tube and my oldest had a blast riding it. I joined him for a while and had fun too. That is, until he slowed down and made a turn and the tube went under. I held on not realizing it was pulling me down. I was thankful for my life vest but was surprised how weak of a swimmer I am! Thankfully, my husband came close by so we could get back in the boat without getting exhausted.

The boys tried their hand at fishing but there were no bites even though we anchored in a good spot. Fishing is a sports for patient people.

The day started cool at 50 degrees but warmed up nicely on the lake. The views were really pretty: Lake Chatuge is a beautiful lake with pretty views of the mountains.

Such a peaceful time! It wasn’t too busy as it was cool and we were able to go at our own pace without worrying about too many boats on the water.

After our excursion, we ate lunch in town, followed by shopping at some antique shops and ice cream! My husband found this pretty opal ring which I have been wearing most days.

I wore my very old thrifted cargo skirt with a cropped t-shirt. This is another outfit I will repeat on our next vacation!

A bientôt!
