Tellus Science Museum
The Tellus Science Museum was more of a destination for us when the children were younger and it had been at least a couple of years since we had visited it. The museum had several permanent exhibits including a mineral exhibit, a fossil exhibit and a flight and space exhibit. It also has visiting exhibits which right now include a interactive sportsology exhibit, an amber exhibit and opening soon, a patents: the engine of inventions exhibit.
The Transportation and flight and space exhibit
I walked quickly through the section about the history of cars (read all of the signs too many times before, but I did enjoy revisiting the flight and space section of the exhibit.
It it always interesting to see life size replicas because it is hard to have an idea of size when you look at something on a TV screen. The picture above is such a good replica that we were not sure if it was the real thing or not.
In the above display, you realize the difference in size between the different rockets, missiles and space shuttles. It is still mind boggling to me that we send people to space, and that it is done safely in most cases. I always think about the first person and the first failed attempts… how incredible that such a feat can be accomplished.
The Mineral Exhibit
This is really my favorite part of the museum: I could spend a lot of time in this area, admiring each and every stone and mineral. The colors, the size, the variety is incredible.
Look at the size of that geode! How was it discovered: was it already split open, or did something see this big rock and decide to crack it open?
Fossil Exhibit
I am not sure what I think exactly about dinosaurs and I think a lot of it is theories. If large lizards existed I believe they disappeared with the flood. But such exhibits are always fun to look at.

My boys and I are huge science museum fans; we often find different exhibits to focus on each time we go and I love that so many museums now have changing exhibits to keep everything fresh and “new” feeling.

That really helps especially if it is a smaller museum like this one.

We always loved going to a similar museum in our area when our boys were younger. I miss those days sometimes! That’s a wonderful museum, though. I think the space exhibits would interest me the most!

Yes, those are so interesting especially when you read all the info!

It was really nice especially that we hadn’t been there in a while.

A very interesting museum trip. It looks like the museum is not too big and overwhelming, which makes for a pleasant visit.

Yes, it is fairly small which is nice if you plan to see it all.

My husband would love the flight part of the museum much more than the minerals.
This is the kind of field trips we always love to take.

The nice thing about this museum is that it is not overwhelming in size. Definitely doable to see it all in one outing.

I love museums of all kinds. I’m always drawn to the minerals and gemstones exhibits because they’re so varied. My daughter toyed with the idea of being an astronaut so we spent lots of time at the Space Museum in Washington, DC. She even has an autographed photo of John Glenn!
Thanks for sharing these!
