World of Coca Cola
Back in the spring, my best friend from college came to spend her spring break in Atlanta with her family. Our boys are really close in age and we hadn’t seen here in a couple of years, so we were excited to hang out with her and her family. We went to Six Flags one day and the Georgia Aquarium. While her husband and boys spent the afternoon visiting another roller coaster park, we decided to visit the new (to us) World of Coca Cola: last time I had visited the Coca Museum was with my brother about 20 years ago.
The museum is right across for the GA aquarium The museum is interactive and starts in a waiting area where there is a really cool display of Coca Cola decor and artifacts. Our guide was really fun and personable.
The first part of the tour is guided and gives you the history of the coco cola drink. It was created in a soda fountain in Atlanta, Georgia in 1886. Dr. Pemberton who created the beverage sold his remaining interest in Coca Cola to Asa Candle who was a great businessman and made Coco Cola was it is today.
Each person responsible in making the product in the factory only knew their part of process. No one knew the whole recipe. It was really interesting to learn about the early history of the product and how they tried to change the recipe at one point, but the public did not accept the change in taste.
My two favorite parts of the museum were looking at the different Coca Cola products from around the world and the cool painted bottles depicting different countries.
We were so surprised to see there was a Georgian bottle as we were headed to Georgia a few months later. It was really cool!
The boys favorite part was where you can taste all the different Coca Cola from around the world and create your own product. I only tasted a couple. The museum is definitely a fun place to spend a cold afternoon or a hot summer afternoon.

This looks so fun! I’m not a fan of Coca cola, but they do such a good job with branding! I didn’t know they tried to change the recipe early on!

Actually the last time was recently and people could tell the difference!

That looks like so much fun. My family and I had plans to check out this museum years and years ago (my husband LOVED Coke products once upon a time) but then sadly, we had to cancel our trip to Atlanta and never made it there.

It was more interesting and fun than I expected.

It’s changed since I was last there.

Fun!! I’ve been planning a road trip for my mom and me through Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia (including Atlanta), so I’ve been researching things to do there. I saw this museum pop up but wasn’t sure what to think of it! Love seeing your pics and reading your thoughts.
Miles of smiles,

If you all come through here, we need to meet up! Message me with the types of things you all like to do, I can tell you about whether some stuff is worth it or not!

Are those Coke vending machines? At first, I thought they were refrigerators but looked again and it seems they are vending machines. Very cute. Wonder if the Colonel from KFC used the same method for keeping his secret recipe from even those who made it every day? Wonder how close the recipe for Coke is to the recipe for Pepsi. I have about given up sodas all together. But PC is a definite Pepsi drinker and doesn’t accept Coke as a substitute.

Yes, they are: with different coke products from all around the world and you can mix them up! Interesting point about KFC: probably I would think!

How interesting that those workers only knew parts of the process! I love tours like these because you learn such interesting things. Thanks for sharing!
