Thrifted Jacket 3 Ways
I have been working hard at limiting any retail shopping and concentrating on find cool pieces while thrifting. If you have seen my jacket section in my closet, you know I do not need another light jacket. However, while browsing at my local Park Ave thrift store, I noticed this cute little jacket hanging and having my half off coupon in hand, I just couldn’t pass it up.
The jacket is an olive brown and while all polyester (not my favorite but this jacket is fun) it doesn’t feel like it. The sleeves are a gauzy material and the top part and lapel feel almost suede-like. I am sharing 3 ways to wear it on a warm winter day.
With a Graphic Tee
Early morning sun for pictures on this day: my son often takes pictures before I drop him off to school. I had him take a couple extras since I wanted to write a blog post featuring my thrifted jacket. I paired it with a black and gold brown graphic tee and my favorite denim of the year.
The jacket is shorter in the front and longer in the back as you saw in the first picture and I like the side zippers.
With a Striped Top
I took the rest of the pictures in the afternoon, so the colors are truer to life. Interesting how lighting works and can alter what we see. I thought the stripes would look pretty under the jacket and I love it!
I don’t wear my skinny jeans much nowadays but I love how they look with the booties!
Monochromatic Look
Since the bright sun was making me squint in the previous pictures, I added my sunglasses: these are my “cheap” sunglasses: the ones I keep on the counter for when I walk up to pick up my son from the primary school. All of my sunglasses are cheap but these are my lightest ones which are great when running or walking.
I love this combo too: the snakeskin booties add some fun and the white helps the jacket stand out. I have no regrets on this purchase!

That is a really neat jacket! My favorite is with the embroidered jeans but that might because I just love embroidery so much.

The fabric looks so softy. And that color is very pretty. I like it with the stripes best. But 3 great looks. That jacket has fun lines.

Yes, I thought it was very unique!

I love that you thrift most of your clothes. I do a combination of hand me downs from my sister, new items and marketplace finds but I am very selective and only tend to look for specific things that I am in need of, for example the next item will be a new pair of black heels (not very exciting). I love the different ways you styled but the stripped is my favorite becausvoth the jacket and top pop, complementing one another.

Last year has been a turning point: I feel like what I thrift actually last longer than what I am buying at retail stores and more interesting. I do like to shop at boutiques every so often but more as a special occasion. I am also going to be spending less per month so thrifting will go longer!

I am looking forward to spring days to wear it!

That’s a very nice jacket with a fun back. It looks like a blouse on the back. The colour is great and goes with a lot!

I agree, the back is really like a blouse: it is very lightweight. The front is more jacket-like.

Love the neutral.

Lighting is my downfall, I think! I can never remember who needs to be where. I really like the three outfits, Mireille, but the first is my favorite. The graphic tee plus those jeans equals fabulosity!

I usually figure it out with my mistakes: too much squinting or shadows and we have to move.

This jacket is a great thrift find Mireille, and you made some really nice outfits with it already! I totally agree that many of my older items are holding up much better than anything purchased recently. I love the mixed textures and the unique design of the jacket. Moto jacket from the front, and shirt tail from the back! It is a great neutral color, too. Thanks for sharing and Happy new year to you and your family!
