Snow Day in the South

People up there probably make fun of us, but after not having any snow for 7 years, an inch or two makes us happy down here in Georgia! Now, we don’t think that this is a lot by any means, and we would have loved to have at least 6 to 8 inches, but we will take what we get! We are still hoping for a good snow this winter, but are weary as we have had snows/ice that have crippled us. We are not used to driving in this and when it ices up, then it’s scary!

But the boys and I fully took advantage of this! We went out around 8 am and took a walk! The first few pictures are from then: the snow was very pretty and it was still snowing some.

Snow ball fights and snow angels are a must. Thankfully, we have snow clothes, so we were able to stay out and go back out several times.

We went back out to sled twice! The hill by the neighborhood playground was great for this and if you do not know, river tubes make for some good sledding! We did this for a couple of hours with a break in between and a drying of our snow clothes.

Of course, we had to build a snowman: not the greatest snow for it, but at least we tried!

The two youngest and I even went on a walk in the woods behind our house: they had never gone down there so it was fun!

Love that you are that mommy who gets out there and experiences life and snow with your babies. I love love love snow. I am that grandma who has busted her bottom going down the advanced snow tubing slope on a river inner tube and complained for days afterward. But I am thankful for the experience, the time with my family and the memories.

Glad you took a break to warm up and dry off. We always have a picnic lunch and access how wet our clothes are and how cold our extremities are. Love the neon yellow/green beanie. So fun. Your snowman is adorable…I think he looks like a big fluffy dog sitting on that snowboard.

Wish we could have just one or two inches before we head into spring. If it doesn’t happen in the next couple of weeks, though, I will be ready to give up on that dream.

It’s such a fun thing! I even did a little sledding when I was 8 months pregnant with baby #3. I was careful but couldn’t pass up the opportunity of a big snow!

I think that’s a lot of snow! We did see some this year but it doesn’t last. Luckily, cause I really don’t like it. But it does make beautiful photos!

You should have seen what Florida, Alabama and Georgia got a couple days ago in the southern parts! It’s crazy! This was a little but it looked really pretty and just enough to have fun in it and not freeze.

It’s definitely more fun when you don’t have to drive in it, and it’s not a common occurrence.
Good for you, guys for getting out and enjoying it.

I am so glad you and your boys got enough snow to have so much fun in it! When my daughter and her family were living in VA, we had had lots and lots of snow up north. We were facetiming, and my grandson (who was probably 2 or 3 at the time) wanted to see a snow angel. I went out and did one for him! She even posted it on Facebook! That was really wet snow so it packed right on to me. There is nothing like sledding in the snow, either! These photos just make me smile, Mireille!

Just enough! I wish we had had more but then I also don’t like it when it freezes and we are stuck home, so I am grateful.

That is fun! We haven’t been out to enjoy our snow yet as our temps dropped dramatically and it’s been much too cold to get out there (well, for me anyway! I like my temps at least in the double digits!). We haven’t had more than 6 inches of snow in a long time; I can’t remember the last time we were able to snowshoe since it requires 6 inches of ground cover to use them. So weird because growing up we usually measured our snow in feet not inches.

we live in the north and snow even cripples us at times. We have not had a ton of snow this year but we have had a lot of cold. We have a lot of winter left up here, though. One year we had a blizzard at the end of March!!

Here, we will get false spring a few times: like this week, we have some highs in the 60s, but who knows what February will bring!
