June #thriftedchicstylechallenge outfits

Since returning from our early summer trip to Europe, I have bought several items of clothing and dropped another load of clothes at Goodwill. With school starting in a few weeks, money is being spent on school supplies and new shoes. As I start thinking about new vacation destinations and an empty vacation account, I need to turn my efforts to saving! In that spirit , I am sharing my June thriftedchicstyle challenge outfits. All of these items were thrifted a while back but I haven’t worn them much at all or have always worn them in the same manner.

One way to keep from spending money on new clothes is looking at your closet with new eyes. How can you create new outfits with what you already have?

Blue tunic and white leggings

Ignore my squinty eyes! Even in the shade, it is sunny here in Georgia! I love the color of this tunic. It does not have a brand name so it might have been homemade and I love that this is real embroidery. I have only worn this on a date night but this time I wore it for a normal day with errands.

Sequins and denim

I usually wear this sequined top with a black and khaki maxi skirt so I decided to change it up. A little while back Jodie @jtouchofstyle wrote about wearing some of your fancier and dressier clothes for everyday. That post inspired me to pair my sequined top with my thrifted denim skirt. I chose my cork Nickel and Suede earrings because I wear those with everyday outfits and a pair of t-strap leopard sandals. Again I was comfortable all day and did not feel too dressed up for everyday occurings.

Striped grey maxi with grey

This was my favorite look. I oftentimes wear this grey and white stripe maxi with 2 tank tops layered over each other but as I was looking at my closet I saw this thrifted cocoon short sleeve cardigan and decided to try it with the skirt. Since the bottom is flowy, I gave the cardigan more shape by tying it. I really like the overall look and I will remember that trick with this cardigan for other outfits!

As a lover of fashion and clothes, it is difficult to curb my desire to shop and add to my closet but I am hoping that by having a goal in mind that I will be more thrifty over the next 6 months or so. My first goal is to not buy any new clothes for myself till October 1st with the exception of a $20 thrift store budget for August and September (each). For the remaining of the year after that, I would like to make sure that any purchase I make has been thought through (no quick amazon clicks!) so that I do not spend unecessarily. The more I save and do not spend, the more I can put towards a big vacation. My husband would like for Costa Rica to be our next destination but it might be 2021 before we can make it happen!

I love how you take other’s ideas (especially mine) and run with them Mireille. I do think we have so much wonderful items in our closet already, so it’s fun to mix it up!!
    Thanks for the shoutout.

My fave is the tunic + leggings combo. Next is your maxi dress.
I applaud you for your budget goals and thrifting. I need to curb my shopping as well. It’s so easy to spend bec of online shopping. The temptation is real.

Between clothes and traveling, I think traveling wins out for me so I know that a hundred dollars saved here and there on top of what I can trim from grocery shopping will add up. Now it sure is easy to shop online: I just bought 2 pairs of Nickel and Suede earrings because they have a sale and I had it in the budget to stop by their store next week while in Missouri. August will be a little difficult but September should be easier!

I love the look of the maxi with the tied cocoon sweater! Shopping your own closet is such a good idea… and something I definitely need to do more of! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you! I will do a follow up post at the end of August to share how well or not well I did: it will give me some accountability!

Oooh, I like your shopping goal. That is something I would like to get better about myself. I used to not buy clothing very frequently, but now that we have a house with a closet…it makes it so much more tempting. A $20 a month budget for Goodwill would be perfect! I also LOVE that maxi skirt outfit! I have an almost identical skirt, but that shirt is something that I might need to look for before I start a shopping goal, haha!

I just bought two pairs of earrings but hey, I told myself it is not August yet, lol! But I do need to stick to it to increase my savings!

You’ve had some great thrifting luck and created some lovely outfits! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m trying to thrift more rather than buying new, but every now and then I splurge! I got some gift cards for Christmas and I like to spend them through the year when I’m looking for something to buy, as I often don’t have a lot of luck thrifting for specific pieces!

Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp ๐Ÿ™‚ I just posted this week’s linkup, I’d love you to join again! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope that you had a great weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚
