Thrift store finds, September
Earlier this month, I gave myself a budget of $25 to go thrifting. I redeemed some credit card points in the form of a Visa gift card and decided that was the max I would spend on my outing. Well, it turns out I only needed a fraction of that! I spent a total of $7+ tax since it was dollar day! I purchased 4 tops, 2 skirts and 1 little pouch. Here are my 3 favorite items:
White House, Black Market skirt
I think this is one of my favorite thrift stores buys of all time. This cute skirt has stripes, pockets and will go with so many tops. I can envision it with a graphic tee, a colorful blouse or tank. On this day, I paired it with my new TJmaxx top, my black nova Nickel and Suede earrings and a pair of black booties. In the fall, I can add a denim jacket or a moto jacket for warmth.
Remember to try items that are not typically your regular size: this skirt is a size L and the following sweater is size XS. Sometimes a piece of clothing will surprise you!
Loft striped sweater
Can you tell I like stripes? I love thenshape of this sweater’s sleeves and the colorful stripes and how it comes under the bust. I paired it with white skinnies because I love the contrast in color but I will also wear it with olive skinnies as well as my black and blue denim. I would look cute paired with a black skirt or pants too.
Taking these pictures was a race against time: I remembered needing pictures for today’s post Saturday evening as I was going to put my 2 middle sons to bed. My oldest and I rushed outside to see if there was enough light to take pictures as the sun was about to set. I had to hurry and change in between outfits.
Handkerchief skirt
I originally was going to share a grey Avia sweatshirt but since I knew there would be no time to take pictures on Sunday between church, a very sunny afternoon and a Falcon football game to go to, I decided to share this skirt that I found on the same thrifting trip. Now remember, each item was only $1! I think I scored on this outing!! I chose this skirt because it was different from anything in my closet and the colors lend themselves to many combinations with blouses and shoes. I went for a simple outfit for this church day and paired it with a navy tee, coral nova Nickel and Suede earrings and my black block heel sandals. The earrings in this color have been retired but there are many others to choose from including the new sunburst novas!
Hope you enjoyed this and it inspires you to go thrifting!

Thank you, Nancy! Still no luck with dress here but maybe if I tried some consignment stores.. The dresses at the thrift store seem to be pretty dated!

Such great finds, Mireille! Especially love the White House Black Market skirt! Can’t believe these were just $1!! I had good luck with finding “like new” handbags at the thrift store, I may need to pay better attention to their clothes!

Thanks, Jodie! Yes, my friend said she got hers too! I think it had to do with it not being online for some reason, which is weird since I never unclicked the button on my blog. Who knows! Thankful you brought it to my attention! Still waiting for the microwave to be installed but now I do need to watch myself again and follow my tips from last week’s budgeting post! This birthday month had me spending more than just my birthday money, lol! Thankfully not excessively but still!

How fun! You got some scores! It’s so true about sizing because you never really know. The only downside is you really need to take some time and look through the whole store!
mimifce
True! Usually the store I go to are organized more by color then size so it doesn’t add to much time thankfully!
Gail
Very impressed with your finds, and in particular the two skirts! You did amazingly well with your budget. I am inspired to go thrifting very soon as I want to look for brown or camel colors.

It was a better month than others. Last couple trips I came out empty handed. I do like this particular store because the most expensive day is $2.25 so if I ended up with something I decide doesn’t work, I am not too upset about it!

I love thrift shopping – or “op-shopping” as we call it here in Australia, it makes sense to our bank accounts and is sustainable for our beautiful planet!! I love both of the skirts you picked up and how you’ve styled them!! Enjoy the rest of your week!

Wow! All of those for just over $7?! How do you do it lol. The black and white striped skirt was my favorite!
mimifce
My thrifting trips are not always as successful! I will say, I like that particular store because the most expensive day is $2.25 so even if you only find one thing you love it is still a great deal!

Thrifting is so fun… but so hard right now as I cannot shop “online” thrifting (unless it’s eBay??) but it’s not the same. Eventually, I will go back to real thrifting.
Thanks for linking up. see you there this coming week.
mimifce
A little difficult with all the kiddos or the baby! Yes, it is more fun in store and easy to figure out what fits!
Mica
Such great finds – I think the skirt at the end there is my favourite, so pretty! 🙂 I’ve found an opshop kind of nearby that has all clothing items for $1 and it’s the BEST, haha! I like their “fill a bag with clothes for $5” sales too!
Hope that you had a lovely weekend!
Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp 🙂 I just posted this week’s linkup, I’d love you to join again! 🙂

Yes, $1 finds have no guilt associated with them! It is fun shopping!
