Colorful Capsule Wardrobe for Fall

I was inspired by Tanya from 50 is not old to think about which items I would use in my closet to create a capsule fall wardrobe. This is a wardrobe that I could see myself taking for a 2 week fall vacation in Europe or somewhere where the weather gets cool in the fall but not especially cold. While most items in a capsule warbrobe should be classic, I decided to pull some color with several items. I could see these working here in Georgia till at least the end of November. As you will see in the next three posts, all of the pieces work well together!

Here are the items I chose. Since I like to be a minimalist when I travel, I tried to challenge myself to select a minimum that I would want to wear for 2 weeks. Of course, this would work for a at home wardrobe too!

1 skirt

I had to chose one of my favorites, my Modcloth florat skirt since I have already experimented with creating many outfits with it and I believe the color is pretty for fall too even though it is bright. I will be toning it down with darker tops and layers.

2 pairs of pants

Of course, a pair of blue denim was an obvious choice. I hesitated between a pair of sage skinnies and a pair of white skinnies and decided to go with the white skinnies!

6 tops

  • white tee (not portrayed)
  • striped shirt
  • purple top
  • floral blouse
  • grey tank
  • black tank

2 pairs of shoes

My first choice were my khaki booties which are a nice comfortable neutral and I decided that my blush slip on sneakers would be another great neutral. I did not choose boots since the pants would give be enough warmth for the first part of fall. Any suggestions for cleaning spots on suede booties?

Accessories

2 scarves and 1 neutral pair of earrings would add enough variety to the outfits.

2 jackets

My denim jacket works with most of these pieces but I decided to add another one that would work better with my denim skinnies. I went with my burgundy utility jacket since I need to wear it more often.
