Beach vacation outfits
Well, we are back from our vacation at the beach! We had a wonderful time at the beach and I will be sharing a couple of our excursions over the next couple of Wednesdays. Please keep my nephew’s healing in your prayers as we had a little incident near the end of our trip. We ended up adding a day to our trip to be near the hospital and visit him there before returning home.
We divided our time at the beach between playing on the beach and going on a few outings. I had planned for a relaxed wardrobe consisting of mostly light sweatshirts and some layers for early morning and comfortable shoes. I always learn a little more about what to pack or not to pack after each of our trips and this is what I learned from this trip:
- pack no more than 2 pairs of shoes, my most comfortable ones: I only wore my white leopard striped Walmart sneakers and my grey Nike Tanjun sneakers
- pack an equal number of short sleeves and long sleeves when going to the beach late fall: I was a little warm a couple of the afternoons.
- take a picture when trying something when shopping if you are unsure of it: I wore the first sweater once and really did not like how it looked on me: donation it will become.
As you will notice in the pictures, there was not a lot of variety in the outfits as I mostly wore my olive joggers or jeans, a few sweatshirts and my white sneakers most of the time. I enjoyed the comfort and coziness of my outfits and while I think I packed too much, I am glad I had different choices.
This is the sweater that I will be donating. It was my first time wearing it and do not like how high the collar is in the front and the cut of the sweater makes me look wider than I am. I am wearing my favorite Wit and Wisdom Ab-solution jeans though with my $17 Walmart sneaks.
This is how I looked every morning while watching the sunrise! A beanie and my cozy scarf kept me warm!
Joggers, leopard earrings, and 2 Walmart finds! First time wearing this Time and Tru sweater from Walmart (couldn’t find the link again) and I like it: cozy, not a tight weave so not the warmest but perfect for visiting Fort Morgan.
Wore this outfit twice, hiking and on our traveling day back (just switched the shoes). Interesting how I wasn’t sure about this little sweatershirt when I received it but I do like it quite a lot. Hiking or not, I typically wear a pair of Nickel and Suede earrings!
I hope my outfits are not boring you yet! The same joggers and sneakers make their appearnace again as well as my Nickel and Suede leopard earrings. I ended up buying the blue sweatshirt at the estuarium on Dauphin Island. It was warm on the ferry over but got cooler in the afternoon. It was interesting visiting Fort Gaines and comparing in to Fort Morgan accross the bay, more on both in upcoming posts.
Real life Thanksgiving outfit: I opted for comfortable shoes, kept the leopard earrings on instead of the ones matching the cardigan and forgot to bring my silver bracelet on the trip. I cuffed the jeans to show a little ankle and really only wore the cardigan for the pictures because Thanksgiving turned out to be pretty warm! We ate outside on the deck and the children played on in the outdoor play area after eating. The restaurant is family friendly and located right on the bay.
One word: comfy! I like how I still feel put together while wearing athleisure wear and I do not look like I am going to the gym. Wearing earrings just adds a little touch of “I am not wearing my pjs”!
I think I wore my leggings twice with this and another Amazon sweatshirt (not photographed). As we were driving back home and as I was making notes for my goals in December, I decided to put a hold on buying clothes for the month of December (I do have money aside for a light denim jacket from Nordstrom put aside that I will order this week). My closet is well rounded, I have no need for more! I need to finish my Christmas shopping, budget the month out and make plans for saving for next year’s vacations. We will be staying home for the Christmas break and I plan to have fun over the next month crafting with my 5 year old who requested Christmas crafts this year!
A bientôt!

I don’t think I’ll be buying any clothes in December. I wish my mom was more like you when it comes to buying clothes. She doesn’t know how to stop no matter what we all say to here.

I don’t always succeed but closing out one month’s budget and seeing where my money went is always a little kick in the pants for me. I also did get quite a few sweaters over the last month or so (4-5 is a lot in my book plus a pair of jeans) so I am all set!

On vacation, outfits tend to be on repeat. It only makes sense! I see you made a trip to Buc-ee’s, I’m not sure why that place is so popular–I haven’t been, but my husband has recently. You always do learn some things from each trip, the weather can sure be a wildcard.

Buc-ees is a gas station on steroids! They had some pretty home decor and all kinds of fun gift items. We didn’t try the food but it smelled really good. They are building a couple in Georgia so I am sure we will stop by one again at some point. It was our first time going in. The one thing with traveling and clothes is that it has taught me what I really like in my closet.

Sounds like a lovely trip Mireille! I’m sorry to hear about your nephew though, I will keep him in my prayers. I love how you mentioned those little lessons you learn after packing for a trip – taking photos in the store when you’re unsure of something is such a good idea! For some reason I always forget to do that, but photos really do help you see what looks good/what doesn’t.
Have a great rest of your Monday!
Miles of smiles,
Grace

He is much better and heading home today. Thanks for your prayers. I was glad that I packed the joggers since I hadn’t worn them much since the spring/summer and sure got to wear them lots this past week. Comfy was my middle name!

Sorry to hear your nephew ended in the hospital! I can’t wait to hear more about your trip; I love these comfy outfits. They sure are perfect for a relaxing vacation.

They sure were comfy! We did have some good times on our vacation so I hope the way it ended for him will give him so good stories to tell when the hospital stay wears off.

So sorry to hear about your nephew. I hope he’s doing better? I’m sure it’s hard to be on vacation and have something awful happen to family. Sending love your way!

Exactly! I ended up liking certain things more for the trip and so more repeating than usual.

Some lovely outfits here. Love your last photo on the beach together. I wish I was on a beach now instead of here in the cold! Thanks for sharing at The Weekly Link Up.

Back in the cold now too! The beach was a nice break since our last family vacation was in June. My littlest loved it so it was even better for me!

Great pictures and it looks like you had a good time. I’m sorry to hear about your nephews accident, hoping he’s doing better and recovers quickly.
I too hope to stay away from buying clothes in December. I purchased a few things during Black Friday/ Cyber Monday and really have no room or need for more clothes.

It is always tempting when you see something cute on a blogger but I really have more than enough clothes to not be bored with my closet. And I want to start saving more each month!

That picture of you at Buc-ees truly brought a smile to my face! Andrea went NUTS over that store/gas station while we were in Austin last month and we had so many great laughs due to her excitement. I’m glad y’all had a great time at the beach. Thanks for linking up with The Style Six!

The poor olive joggers are showing some wear but until they fall apart or I find a better pair, I will keep on wearing them. The earrings have become my go to!

Mireille, you look adorable in all of these outfits! Your sunrise beach photo all bundled in scarf and hat is my favorite! That is pretty much how I look all the time lounging around my house…I am always that cold. I am getting better about minimalist packing which I did for 6 days in Pennsylvania. And I even managed to create a few different outfits to photograph for the blog while wearing the same jeans and boots for nearly every outfit! It looks like you had a wonderful beach holiday. Thanks for linking up. I am sending lots of healing thoughts and prayers for your nephew.
