Favorite Vacation Outfits

I thought it would be interesting to look at the outfits I wore on vacation last year and pick out my favorites. I usually am a minimalist packer especially on trips abroad so as to have space for gifts and souvenirs. On trips to the beach, I usually overpack and come home with clothes I didn’t wear and on other trips I am usually right on point.

Trip to Europe (France and Spain)

I am choosing two outfits for this trip since in the second one I am wearing a shirt I bought in France and did not pack.

My jeans were my most worn bottoms on this trip as they are versatile and fit me well. I bought these Jambo shoes just for the trip as I was looking for a comfortable shoe that would look nice with either pants or dresses. The thrifted shirt is fun and while the colors may not be as bright as they should be, I love the muted palette. It is very comfortable to wear. I wore this exact outfit twice on the trip.

My 2nd favorite outfit is with this pretty blouse I found at a market in a small village in the south of France. The Madewell sandals that I have in two colors are really comfortable and versatile and I really like the strap around the ankle. My Nickel and Suede earrings were my favorite until I lost one of the earrings later on that summer. Lesson from this trip: bringing a pair of well fitting jeans on a trip to Europe is a must for me!

Weekend in Blue Ridge

Look at that! Same shoes, jeans but shorts because it is too hot for long pants in the mountains in the summer and a similar color palette for the shirt. I have had this one for a while and should wear it more often. I like how it tapers at the waist and I really like anything that has some red in it. One of my best buys this summer were those Target shorts.

Road trip to Missouri

For this road trip I did a mini capsule wardrobe with a coral and blue color palette. I did not like all of my outfits but here is the one I liked the most.

Do we see a pattern? This top again! This time with my joggers that I did bring to France and a cute pair of coral/orange sandals! I think the shoes make the outfit in this case. And the fun ball earrings don’t hurt. It was very comfortable for traveling in the car and still look put together.

Thanksgiving beach trip

The above joggers make their appearance once again. They were the perfect pair of pants for a relaxing week at the beach. Both the sweater and the sneakers are from Walmart. I probably would have worn those sneakers on all of the above trips if I had had them at the time. They are very comfortable but out of stock online.

The lessons from these pictures are that when you travel, make sure to pack your tried and true pieces of clothing. Bring some of your favorites, your comfortable pieces. Shoes and accessories are important too. Comfortable footwear is important so always have your eyes out for cute comfortable shoes that you can walk in when shopping. On each of those vacations, I brought a few things that I didn’t really love so I either had to make myself wear them or just left them in my suitcase. Learn from your past experiences to become a better packer. If your closet has only items that you actually love and that fit you well, the more likely you are to pack outfits that you will be comfortable in and will wear. Sometimes less is more!
