Accessories are amazing!
If you are traveling or if you have a small wardrobe, accessories can be a game changer. They can transform an outfit by a switch of a shoe or an earring or by their addition such as a scarf or a necklace. They can be more economical than adding a blouse or a pair of pants to your closet and if you are traveling they do not take much space (apart from shoes).
Now the earrings I am sharing are not economical as Nickel and Suede earrings run usually around $25 to $32 but I love them so much that I have collected a dozen pairs over the past few years. They recently went up in price so I often try to buy them when they run a sale or when they have an earring of the month which is nowadays $22. While I do have a few pendant necklaces, I find that I don’t reach for them as often as my scarves unless it is close to summer when scarf are just too warm (even the light weight ones). Shoes can range greatly in prices but the ones depicted in today’s post were fairly inexpensive with the striped wedge being a child size shoe from Target (maybe 5 years back), the leopard wedge I bought a couple weeks ago at 20% off for less than $30 and the Sanuk sandals were also child size from Amazon (around $15).
Now to the outfit: I started with the base of a pair of skinny jeans (these are Wit and Wisdom) and a white peasant blouse. I have had this blouse for many years and love the pretty details on it.
Leopard wedges and earrings
If you are to choose some earrings and shoes to make a statement, I would suggest a print. They make more of a statement than a solid and give more interest. It allows you some simple and subtle pattern mixing when you so desire it. The reason I like Nickel and Suede earrings so much is that they are light weight, of great quality and Nickel and Suede is a family owned business. It is amazing to see Kilee’s success and the growth of her and her husband’s company. I wear these leopard spotted earrings quite often.
The leopard wedges from Target are quite fun! I love them with pants and skirts alike.
Excuse the home pedicure: I have a gift card to use when this whole stay at home quarantine time ends but until then I bought a couple small bottles of nail polish to give my toes some color. I haven’t painted my own nails in years so I sure need some practice.
Black and white wedges and earrings
This outfit is not very much different than the first one but the different shoes and earrings do give the person with a limited clothes options a variety. I have been surprised at how much I actually do wear these spotted cork earrings. They are pretty fun and definitely add interest to an outfit. I always wear size medium in my Nickel and Suede earrings.
I still can’t believe I found these fun little sandals in the kids’ section all those yeas ago. If you wear size 7 and below, just add 2 to child’s size (I wear children’s size 5). You can often find similar shoes to adult’s for less money!
Sanuk sandals, scarf and yes, another pair of N&S earrings
What a difference a scarf makes! This fun tassel scarf was a surprise discovery at a local boutique last year. For some reason I cannot resist a scarf with tassels. I love the spring colors of this one and I have worn it with a variety of outfits including wearing it in Paris, France last summer. A scarf is a simple way to give dimension to an ouftit and you can thrift them, find them in the dollar spot at Target or even make one from an old tee.
I bought the coral nova earrings before they were discontinued and they have been a great way to add a pop of color to my spring outfits. The coral is more pink than orange and looks great combined with a yellow top. I want to pair it with teal/turquoise one day (but I need a blouse or tee of that color first).
The Sanuk sandals have been handy in many different situations. I have used them as slippers/slip ons on trips abroad and at the beach, and just to add a little fun to a simple outfit. They are quite comfortable! They pair well with any of the items in my closet.
So there you have it: accessories especially colorful and patterned ones can transform your outfit with less of an impact on your wallet.

So loving this white shirt and your accessories look wonderful! Great sandal finds as well! Would you believe me I never went for a pedicure (or manicure for that matter!!) Can’t imagine having a stranger work on my nails LOL. But I know I’m in the minority.

Funny! I do love pedicures but I am too cheap to do it more than a couple times a year. I love doing it right before a vacation.

You really make good use of your Nickel and Suede earrings. I’m partial to the pink/peach ones. You don’t have to remind me twice about adding scarves!

Lol! I wish I could wear scarves longer in the season!

These kinds of earrings are worth the extra cost for sure Mireille because they are so lightweight. I have found ones like them if you are ever searching, that are a tad less expensive. A woman from our Forever Fierce group sells hers too: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheresaRose?search_query=earrings

Those are all great accessory options but I am partial to the last one with those pops of pink and I just love scarves.

Me too! I like scarves a lot but it gets warm so fast here!

I totally agree that accessories are amazing! They really transform an outfit and are a reasonably cheap way to update our existing items of clothing! I love all of your earrings and matching them to your shoes and other accessories. My fave look is the last one, but I love the leopard print earrings and wedges too! Hope you and your family are well 🙂 XXX

You should! I do like getting them when they have a sale. I ended up picking up last Earring of the month on the last day. For $22, I knew I would wear them a lot. Good thing I don’t like this month’s earring of the month as much or I would be tempted.

Accessories are such great ways to add pops of color and points of interest to an outfit and certainly changing them up with the same outfit can make it look a lot different. I love all of these looks, Mireille. You picked the perfect base pieces and I really love those Sanuk sandals and the leopard wedges from Target (and they come in so many colors). And I’ve been eyeing the leather earrings lately. I love the ones you’ve picked and the coral color is beautiful! The scarf reminds me quite a bit of one I have in my closet. I need to pull that out and see if I can “gather” some coral and turquoise clothing pieces to pull out the coral and turquoises in the scarf. Your tulips are gorgeous!

Thanks, Ruth! The bright earrings are fun and I do wear them a lot more in the spring and summer. I love turquoise and have dainty earrings in turquoise but don’t wear them nearly as much as my statement earrings. The tulips were a fun surprise this spring.

I always love the earrings you wear! You have some really cute sandals here, too. I can’t wait for sandal weather here!

I wear my flat sandals a lot and most are a few years old and still going strong. I just can’t help but add a couple of earrings into my collection each year(well, a couple or 4, lol)
Nicole of High Latitude Style
Both pairs of sandals are great finds and work well with the outfit. Nice posh casual look. Thanks for sharing.

The pedicure only looks good because it is not a close up lol! I just had to paint the tip of the toes again today. But at least from afar it looks decent.

Mireille, I love all of your accessories, but the coral pink earrings with scarf and pink, striped sandals is my favorite. I think it’s because I love spring, and that outfit really makes me think spring. Beautiful tulips too!

I firmly believe accessories are a game changer. When I first started fashion blogging back in 2013, I didn’t have many accessories. I’ve since consciously built up a wardrobe of belts, necklaces, patterned/colored hosiery, bags and ankle boots. It makes such a difference to an outfit. Love those tulips! Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday.
mimifce
Thank you. I do need to add more belts. I barely ever wear them.

I love all sorts of accessories, they are the key elements that dictate the mood and style of the outfit. I love oversized earrings too and a big fan of scarves

Shoes.. I really like them. I have bought less in the past since the ones I have are good ones and are holding up to the stand of time.

I feel like now really is the time for us to treat ourselves to some gorgeous clothes to lounge around in – and this post really encapsulates the self-isolation-yet-still-chic vibe I’m really going for!
I hope you’re staying safe during this quarantine!

Thanks, Amy! I trying to be wise about my spending but I still am shopping just carefully and with a purpose: how much wear will I get of the item now and later and taking advantage if on sale and free shipping.

Accessories definitely can take an outfit to a whole new level! I never leave my house without adequately accessorizing! I love all of your Nickel and Suede earrings. They are a bit out of my price range but there is local boutique near me where my friend sells her handmade leather earrings for about $6-15 a pair. I have probably a dozen pairs. I love the lightweight feeling of leather earrings. You can also find a huge variety of handmade ones on Amazon for a fraction of the price. And I cannot get enough of those adorable leopard sandals! I think those on going on my summer wish list! Thanks for linking up with me, my friend.
