August Sunday Showcase: (School drop) Link Up is Live!

Welcome to the August Sunday Showcase link up with Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood and I! We hit a little snafu last weekend and the link up is now live. Thanks for joining us and lease visit Ada’s post too here! Since I had this post planned instead of my regular Monday post, you are seeing it twice, but now with Ada’s outfits to and the live link up! This month we are sharing ideas about what to wear when dropping off or picking up your children from school. It actually has been a year since my 2 middle boys have been car riders but this year, I do not want them riding the bus where I think germs will be more prolific. That means I will be dropping off and picking up the kids at least for the first few months of school if not longer: 3 boys, 3 schools. Now of course, the outfits I am sharing today are also perfect for feeling put together at home if your children are doing virtual learning from the get go.

I love how Ada chose outfits that anyone can copy from their closets. Add cute shoes and accessories to a simple tee and jeans outfit, add that little extra to a tshirt dress or find on of your really cute tanks or blouse makes your outfit much more special.

I absolutely love Ada’s tank with her leopard sandals. Even the jeans are special with that step hem and darker hem.

Comfortable and put together with adorable ballet shoes and I love the sunglasses in the pocket!

Our city schools offered two options with a late start date of August 18. The virtual option for the school year or the traditional option which can go through different phase (hybrid, regular school or virtual). We are choosing to traditional option which means the children will be starting school on a hybrid model with half the students going 2 days a week and the other half another 2 days. The rest of the week will be virtual learning. The school has a plan to reduce the spread of germs and we think our children will benefit from the socialization. Since my mother in law lives with us, we will make sure that we follow some good hygiene when we come back from school too.

Dressed up for drop off duty!

Now on to the outfits! While I have been known to occasionnally drop off the kids in my pjs, I usually try not to especially if I plan to make a stop for an errand after dropping off the kids. 3 schools means I might be in the car for more than an hour for drop off. The high school is the furthest at 15 min but I have not idea how fast this will go. The part I am not looking forward to is pick up which might take 2 hours of my day: yikes! The boys will be going to school on Thursday and Friday and with half the students minus the ones going full virtual,  I am hoping it goes somewaht quickly.

I love the comfort of joggers and I especially like joggers that are not terry cloth or sweatshirt material because they can be dressed up without losing the comfort. Elastic waist makes for comfort and any tops will work. This is my dressier look with a tank and sandals. You have seen all of these pieces before which is how it should be: shop your closet for comfort pieces that can be used for a multitude of occasions and outfits.

Ignore the weird face on this pic! Can you believe I purchased this tank from Loft for $8 (couldn’t find it on the website anymore so it might be sold out)! These outfits today really show a wide range of prices: my joggers are the priciest items but I have worn them so much that I don’t mind the price tags. My tops were both thrifty and the shoes are mid range.

The easiest way to elevate an outfit is with your accessories: you know me and my leather earrings from Nickel and Suede! But you can find some cheaper options on Amazon and different small businesses. I cannot testify to others’ quality and am partial to Nickel and Suede. These spotted cork teardrops are always fun and add a pattern to your outfit. There are sales throughout the year so you can buy them for less. Colorful sandal? You should have a couple pairs in your closet: yellow, orange, turquoise: what a fun pop of color! These Target espadrilles sandals were different than my t strap sandals and I have worn them a lot in the past month. My Amazon tile bracelets are starting to show some wear but at less than $17 for the trio, I cannot complain and I love their colorfulness.

Dressed down for pick up duty!

Now my version of being dressed down is probably not the same as yours! Dressed down means my cute sneakers and something in a tee material. This pair of Jensen’s joggers are mostly sold out more there are many camo joggers out there. They are fun and can be used as a neutral.

This was a fun way to do some pattern mixing! This thrifted tee is fun with the square neck and while the colors are somewhat faded, I still enjoy wearing it.

I had fun taking pictures on the golf course accross from the condo in the Great Smoky Mountains. Lots of pretty spots!

Again a pair of statement earrings can add a fun colorful twist to an outfit.

Adding a denim jacket and cute sneakers make a basic t-shirt dress very appealing and cute.

What do you usually wear when on school drop off routine or waiting at the bus stop? Will you get dressed in the morning if you are doing virtual schooling this school year?

You and Ada look lovely in your outfits. Wow, this is going to be an interesting year for school, that’s for sure. I think it’s a good idea you’re dropping the kids off, even if it’s going to take nearly an extra two hours.

Thanks, Lindsey! I finally realized that the time might not be so bad since less kids are at school at a time. Should be half the time as it would normally take.

    • mimifce

Sure is. And dropping off and picking up kids is not as early as dropping them off to the bus stop.

I didn’t know moms even dressed up to drop their kids at school. I thought they wore yoga pants or pjs ☺️You gals look gorgeous in your drop off outfits. Thanks for the link up!

Lol! I even would get dressed to go the bus stop at 6:40 am but not nearly as often! Dropping them off at school is a little later.

They are pretty fun. They are getting a little loose though so going to have to figure something out so they don’t annoy me.

Ooh, I really do love the mustard yellow on you, Mireille! I remember when I had to drive my kids to school and it took me close to an hour or morning drop off just to take one kid to preschool and the other to elementary school. Pick up was staggered because preschool was only a half day. But now both boys are at the same elementary school which is at the end of our street. And next year when Archie heads off to the intermediate school, it is still walking distance. Actually all of the schools are just a few blocks from our house, so it makes my life so much easier! I wish you lots of patience kicking off your drop off season!

Walking distance is pretty awesome! I am going to try to find a desk this week for my oldest so he doesn’t do his work in bed on the days we are home. The ones I want are either sold out or won’t come for months! Might get creative!

Thanks, Darlene! I am surprised how much I reach for that mustard top! Such an easy flowy top to pair things with.

I love the navy and mustard outfit – it’s a colour combination I like wearing a lot too, mustard is such a wearable shade of yellow!
