August Favorite Outfits (part 1)
Another month of winning outfits in my book! There were a couple looks I did not include because I did not like them and did end up donating one of those items worn. While I am not sharing any links this week, I have a reason behind that. As I gear myself for several months of hopefully no clothes shopping, I want to encourage others to shop their closets as I will shop mine or to make a list of the types of items you need for your closet. I am always tempted on Instagram or with my daily blog reading but I actually do have quite a nice fall/winter wardrobe with new and newish items so I should not be adding anything to any carts no matter how good the sale. So look at these outfits, if there is something inspiring, try shopping your closet first!
Skirts
It really makes me feel good that my purchases this year (while too many of them) have been worn repeatedly and usually not twice the same way. If I have only worn something I bought once, then it was a mistake and a waste of money. I like to see variety in my Instagram feed, but variety that shows you can wear the same pieces in a variety of ways to get the most out of your closet.
I have been wearing this green skirt since the beginning of spring and like it best with a graphic tee when not wearing a jacket with it. That is the way you will see most of my skirts styled as I like the modern twist a graphic tee adds to a skirt.
This is my favorite tee with this skirt so I changed up the accessories this go around to change the look a little.
I added a belt for the first time with this rainbow skirt and I like it! I think wearing a shoe with a little bit of a wedge helps with the midi length of this skirt! I do need to not look so low when my 9 year old takes my daily pic! Lesson learned!
I love my dress in this color so this past week, I decided this skirt needed another wear. I actually wore this to clean/organize the garage and then wore it in the rain with rainboots (I knotted it) while the boys enjoyed jumping in the puddles. Such a vibrant color!
Pants
I am actually looking forward to wearing jeans this fall and tunics and leggings! Until then, I will keep rotating my wide legged pants and my joggers (those will have a big comeback for me in the fall).
I think I wore this belt 3 times in a week! I haven’t worn belts much in the past years but they do have a place in my closet and I am learning how they can add to an outfits especially when I want to define my waist.
I really like to have a pair of white leggings in the summer as they can lighten up a look. I used colorful accessories for that same purpose in this outfit.
Joggers, how I love you! Comfy, non restricting and very versatile! These I can dress up with heels but most often I wear them with sneakers. We’ve been trying to take pictures with the flowers before the all die, so I have a little bit of variety in my backgrounds.
About to put my flowy pants away and replace them with my fall bottoms but taking them out for one last spin. These thrifted ones are probably one of my favorites. And I almost didn’t keep them when I originally bought them!
Tried to bring in fall on this particular day! This is still one of my favorite purses from last year (Modcloth) that I had bought on clearance. I really like my structured bags the most.
This is an example of keeping something even though it is falling apart: my little Walmart sneakers are falling apart on the inside but the outside still looks good so I still wear them! I hadn’t worn this striped tee in a while so that is how the outfit started!
Come back on Friday for Part 2 of my August outfits!

Such cute looks, Mireille. I know what you mean about wearing something, then getting rid of it! I really like brighter colors on you. I bought those mustard Target sandals, but will probably return them, they’re a little less comfortable than I’d like.

Thanks, Kim! The sandals definitely don’t have a greaet amount of support especially with your knee problem, I could see how they may not work. I have worn them quite a bit and love the pop of color.
Jennifer
Loving all of these looks!

I love how you really wore so many longer skirts this summer Mireille. I added a couple to my closet too, and they are so great in the heat.

I love all of these fun summer looks! I agree with you, these next few weeks/months I’ll also be shopping my closet. I have so many fall pieces that I love and always re-wear each year. So my links will old, but oh the money I’ll save 🙂

Exactly! Who cares about old links anyways =). I bought quite a few fall things this summer on sale, so my closet can be my store!

Again, some winning looks. I think my favorite is the black jumpsuit with your neutral belt-probably no surprises there! It’s just so classy looking.
I think a lot of us are putting a “slow it down” attitude on clothes. Back in ’14, my daughter and I did a year of no buy for what was called “The Great American Apparel Diet”. I won’t go that far again but find it a bit of relief to not shop. I;ve actually culled a few things.
Take care, Terri

Wow! A whole year! I don’t think I could do that but I really think I will be able to be good the rest of the year. Since I had bought some fall things on sale this summer, shopping my closet is going to be like shopping a store!
Ellibelle

I love that you are encouraging us all to shop our closets! I love that outfit with your colorful flowy pants!

I might have to change my tune if I want to monetize my blog but for right now I think I want to encourage us to think before we buy!
Jill
So many cute looks! You have the best collection of maxi skirts!

Thanks, Jill! I have enjoyed figuring out which style I like!
Laurie
The maxi skirts suit you so well! And I like many of the outfits featured here Mireille. The jumpsuit looks fabulous xx
mimifce
Thanks, Laurie! It is funny but I really barely ever wear the jumpsuit because I forget about it.
Penny
I simply love all your maxi skirts, Maybe the green one is my favourite. You really suit them.
Yes, I think September is time to take stock and not buy anything new. Here in the UK we’re being encouraged to buy second hand from charity shops. There’s a campaign called Secondhand September fronted by the charity Oxfam and I’ll be following their advice.
But it’s really great to see all your outfits. Take care x
mimifce
Thanks, Penny! I have enjoy my skirts this summer, I think it helps I got a few new ones and got rid of a few too.
Gail
Some wonderful outfits in August Mireille. I like your stance on shopping your closet. One of the charities here is running a “Secondhand September” campaign to try to make us think twice about buying new clothes. So far I have not got my autumn/winter clothes down from the attic, I am going to try to extend my summer clothes with cardigans, tights etc.
You have a brilliant way with earrings – in the first pic I love how your earrings and skirt both have dots.
Thanks for sharing at #WowOnWednesday!

Thank you, Gail! My son just picked me up a graphic tee for my birthday.. so i get a little something new without shopping =)
Jacqui Berry
Such a fun mix up of outfits, they are all so different. Love the black jumpsuit. Jacqui
Thank you for joining me.

It is easier to have more varied looks in summer with the choice of shorts, dresses/skirts and joggers.
Mica
You have such a great collection of skirts! I love how colourful your outfits were too 🙂 I have definitely been shopping my wardrobe even more than usual this year but I feel I haven’t been wearing a lot of it as I haven’t gotten out of loungewear every day, haha! I just get dressed for the school run now and hubby and I share that as we are both working from home so I don’t do that every day!
Hope that you had a great weekend 🙂 Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup!

I actually am looking foward to more subdued colors (like I will share on my Friday posts) but yes, brights have been highlighted this summer! I am wearing that bright dress today again!
Shelbee on the Edge

I really have only black and white graphic tees so I will need to expand my horizons next year (got keep true to my no shopping… I got my son to get me a tee for my birthday and my hubby a cute pair of fashion sneakers lol!)
Karren Haller
Skirts are a great way to stay cool, you have so many!!!
mimifce
It’s cool because some are so very old I don’t remember when I got them and then I did get some fun ones this year too! It’s become a nice varied collection.
