Transitioning a Summer Dress for Fall: Thursday Moda with Ada

Thanks again to Ada for asking me to join her with her Thursday Moda Link up! Today we are sharing how we would transition a summer dress for fall! Being able to wear your clothes for more than one season of the year gives you more bang for your buck and gives you opportunities to be creative with your clothes . One simple way to do that is to change accessories and add layers. Today I am sharing two dresses and how I would wear them in the fall. Now we took these pictures on a nice humid and hot afternoon (it was in the 90s) so excuse my hair!

Black Dress

This simple black dress I bought on Thred Up a few years ago is a blank canvas for creating different outfits. To add a summery touch, I added this rattan belt and wore my cork Nickel and Suede earrings. I have been enjoying my new sandals and figure I will be wearing them for the rest of this month before putting them away.

In the summer I always try to lighten a dark look with my accessories. Even though I often wear my brightest colors, I sometimes like a little change in pace.

Fall time? You cannot always wear a denim jacket in September or Fall in the South. It probably will be cooling down in the next few weeks but it still will be in the mid 80s. One option is to add a vest to your outfit. I love my olive utility vest for its versatility and because it is so lightweight.

Adding a pair of booties and changing my earrings to a a leopard pair helps create a fall look.

I usually choose a pair of booties with a low shaft when pairing them with a skirt or dress. These tan booties are a staple in my closet.

Colorful Dress

I wanted to show more than one option so I chose this colorful dress I bought years ago at Ross Dress for Less. I have always liked this dress because it does not need many accessories and the handkerchief hem is really fun!

I actually do wear this dress even in winter with long boots and extra layers. It is actually really good quality for the price I paid for it!

My son and I took these pictures during the home schooling day: he needed an outside break so this worked out well as we had some shade in the front of the house.

I used the same pair of booties but added my favorite denim jacket. I have several denim jackets and I have worn them a lot this spring so I am really looking forward to wearing all the layers again soon. A denim jacket works with skirts, dresses, leggings, pants, shorts… If you do not have one in your closet, get one! I have a couple I bought second hand and this one was more of an investment.

Again I switched my earrings to a darker pair to bring in the fall. Which summer dress or skirt can you imagine or have you worn in the fall?

I love how Ada chose this cute little striped dress to transform it for fall. I love those cute little open toe booties and how great does it look with teal! Just like me she transitioned her dress by changing accessories and adding layers. Never underestimate the power of accessores!

Hope this post gave you some ideas and made you look forward to fall. It is now time to link up!
