Friday Favorites June Edition
I cannot believe the month of June is almost over. That means, we have been on summer break for practically a month already and that school will start in about 6 weeks. I have been enjoying time with the kids even though they sometimes drive me crazy and we have had a lot of quality time playing board games, going on outings and playing the Nintendo switch.
Our Garden
I have finally found a few plants that will survive my lack of care (actually, my mother in law has been watering them). But I am really enjoying the sunflowers I planted. We have a couple of lavender plants as well as few other plants that were gifted to my mother in law. They make for a nice backdrop for pictures and just look so pretty from the street. The sunflowers are like a ray of sunshine.
Our first bike ride of the season
We still need to buy a 6 bike rack for the van but at a cost of close to $1000 I am not too much in a hurry. So we have bought our neighbors’ rack for $50 and will stick 2 bikes in the van and take two cars to our destination. Our first bike ride was kind of a flop since it rained but makes me look forward to better planned ones.
Sunrise
I went running before 7 a couple weeks ago and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise. I am inconsistent with my runs but at least am moving every day. This particular morning was perfect.
Camping with the boys
The 3 youngest and I camped in our backyard in our 3 person tent we found on sale at Dick’s Sporting Goods. It fits the 2 nugget mattresses perfectly making for a comfy night. No bugs came in which was a plus. We will have to do this again. Here is our view from the tent to the house.
What have you been enjoying this summer?

It hasn’t been the best June month weather wise over here. But we have been able to have a bbq a few times. We haven’t cycled that much either, to little time, these are busy months for Gerben. I hope you get to enjoy the summer months a lot, they pass way to quick!

Yes, sounds like Gerben has been busy! We have grilled out a lot but have not done as much of other things we usually do.

I didn’t sleep much but it was kind of fun!

It’s always amazing to me just how fast the time flies by! We’ve never owned a bike rack that holds enough bikes for us all either and I have been known to shove one in the back of my car a time or two… not the best option but it works for the very few tmes we’ve gone bike riding.

We like to bike a lot so we eventually will need to invest in one. Our little set up should work for the next 6 months or so!

Your garden is so pretty! I remember camping in our backyard with friends growing up. I miss those times.

It wasn’t so bad! I did think of the couple of different animals that might creep up so i kept the lights on the porch. My main thing though seriously is bugs adn we did a good job not letting any in!

Looks like a fun month. Love your flowers! I really would love to go bike riding but it seems like such a huge initial expense, between the bikes, bike rack, etc. Someday!

We biked dowtown today and ate by the railroad tracks then the boys had ice cream before we rode back home. It was fun!

Beautiful photos! Your garden looks so lovely. I would love a bike eventually… I do mostly running for exercise and I always see people on bikes and I think about how much more I could explore faster by bike! Lol!

I really do enjoy the bikes! Our little set up works if we arent’ biking too far since we have to take two cars.

Camping in the back yard looks like fun! it’s so nice you’re able to enjoy the summer with your kids! We are on school holidays here but it’s just the 2 week winter break so nothing overly fun planned – a couple days out locally and hopefully a playdate if the covid outbreak in sydney doesn’t spread to brisbane, haha!
Hope that you are having a nice weekend 🙂 Another cold one here, but it has stopped raining!

It’s been nice so far, we haven’t planned too much so the kids are getting a lot of play time and a few outings here and there.

Such great favorites! My daughter and I planted some sunflower seeds, they are getting bigger but not blooming yet. But I did buy a blooming sunflower at the farmers market which I planted in my garden with the others. Yours look like they are doing really well and I’m loving how you have the hummingbird feeders around them. I only have one but sadly this year no Hummingbirds yet! We used to camp in the backyard too when the kids were younger.
mimifce
For some reason this year, we haven’t had many hummingbirds, just one or two. Usually we get about a dozen.

The sunflowers are just beautiful! Camping in the background sounds fun too! What a pretty view.

Our backyard faces the woods so if we don’t look to the cul de sac we can imagine we are not in a subdivision. Sunflowers are a favorite of mine and I like that they are hardy.

It looks like you all are really enjoy the summer break! I do love to see the sunrise and even though I am awake long before it comes up, I rarely get outside to watch it. I need to make a point of doing that. Fun post, my friend!

So far so good! This month will be a lot of tennis camps and a short trip to Arizona. Will still try to enjoy the little things.
