Inspired by the Grey Brunette: Blue Jeans and Orange
I often take a picture of my computer screen when I read a blog post and see an outfit that I can recreate from my closet. The latest one was this outfit from Suzy. Suzy (The Grey Brunette) has been inspired me not only by her outfits lately but also with her photography. She bought a new camera, a remote and tripod and has been learning how to use it and be creative by taking courses and practicing. Suzy lives in Portugal and has a beautiful backyard and surrounding where she takes most of her pictures. She also has been having fun editing her pictures sometimes creating some really artful pieces.
Of course, when I got home and uploaded my pictures, I kicked myself for not looking at my inspiration picture again: I would have looked forward and held the bag in my hand! We shot this outfit at a new to us location, a closed down bank building at an intersection not too far from home. I felt a little self conscious taking pictures with the traffic going by but I figured probably none of the drivers knew me so who cared!
This new pair of jeans is new as in I have only worn them twice but they were bought at least a month before my no shopping started. They are my first distressed pair of jeans, a pull on waist, a released hem and straight legged. A lot of firsts for me! My only wish is that they were higher waisted: I really had to suck in my stomach in my pictures: I would usually wear them with a looser top.
My espadrilles need a little treatment: I spilled some water on one a month or so ago and it has some water spots. I need to look up how to take out water spots out of suede material. My $5 tank from Target has been a nice basic to layer with. I replaced all of my tanks this year and still want to add one or two neutral ones but I will get a higher neck on those. I find myself readjusting these some throughout the day.
Like many others, I am kind of looking forward to fall. School has now started and we are back into more of a routine. I am ready to go hiking and bicycle without being drenched by a rainstrom or sweat. While seeing hummingbirds is fun, I do not like the bees the feeders attract but they will be out there for another month or so. They are my mother in law favorites.
If you can see in the background on the right, there is a cool building that I feel would be neat to photograph. The boys and I call it the sweet potato fries building because the metal on the front of it looks like french fries. It is a neat building, very modern with lots of glass and metal and is a create center for Shaw floors.
We tried another headshot in the wet grass, it didn’t come out as well as my blue dress one but I still like it. Of course, we should have noticed that my cross necklace was tucked on the side. I tell you, the little details… But since the neighbor was talking to a worker in the street, I really did not want to try again. Nothing like drawing more attention to myself. There are times when I wish we had a fence around our house, lol!
A bientôt!

I love your inspired by posts! Isn’t it so good to get inspired by other bloggers! That happens to me more often then from magazines!
mimifce
For sure! I actually pretty much never look at magazines as the fashion can be pretty out there!

This outfit turned out so nicely! Love this tank, the color is gorgeous and the wide straps are so practical! Great new photo location too!
A fenced in yard would be so practical for me as well, but I would not have even noticed the turned necklace if you hadn’t mentioned it!
We’re still not back in a routine. School start was pushed back to September and they will start remote due to construction at the high school. And my son will be commuting to college, luckily we live pretty close. At this point I don’t even remember anymore what a normal routine is. But that’s how it goes when they grow up, I guess!

Yes, things are different when the kids get older. Mine still range the span of 3 to 15 so routine is still key

I love the new location. That’s a fun thing to discover places that look so great.
And your first distressed jeans?? I think these are a fabulous distressed version because they aren’t too distressed but they look so modern.
XOXO

There are really several spots I would like to take pictures at in our town but I am usually in a hurry so we choose spots closest to home.
Ashley
What a great tank top (and color!) on you. You look so polished but still casual enough to go anywhere. 🙂

Love this classic look that you recreated! That last head shot is a wonderful one of you. I totally get it though about little details. I get frustrated when I notice things later. I need to brush it off like you say!

I am trying to get better at the details but then I do need to remember this is just a fun hobby.

Your recreation is spot on! I feel you with the fence thoughts, sometimes we need our privacy, especially when photo shooting 😄

For sure! I always feel weird taking pictures when people are out.

Mireille,
You did a great job with recreating the photo. It can be a bit intimidating to be photographed while others can observe but you need to try to put that out of your mind. You’re correct in thinking that they probably don’t know you anyway which means they don’t know that you’re a blogger. They just see a great mom who’s letting her kid take her picture.

I usually can ignore it pretty well unless it is my neighbors then I feel like they probably think I am full of myself as only 2 know that I blog.

I love those jeans! The only thing I plan on buying for fall is a new pair of jeans, but I’m waiting. It’ll be at least a month before I need to wear jeans. All my jeans are skinny jeans, and I keep reading how those are out-of-style so I wanted to buy a pair of straight leg jeans.

I am hoping to thrift more this fall and I have a couple things I have my eye on to get with my birthday money! But no new pants or bottoms unless thrifted!
Michelle
This is a lovely look on you, Mireille! And you recreated Suzy’s outfit perfectly.
