Booth Western Art Museum
On Monday, I share an outfit that was inspired by my cowboy boots and Pinterest and since it was the end of summer, I decided that the perfect location and outing for me and the boys would be the Booth Western Art Museum. We have visited several times but still enjoy the couryard with the large sculptures, the museum with the visiting exhibits as well as the permanent ones.
Anytime I visit an art museum, I am just in awe of the talented artists! Whether is is clay work, wood art, paintings, any media from used has my appreciation! The museum’s permanent collections include a presidential gallery, a cowboy gallery with more than 35 paintings and sculpures, a sculpture atrium and a Native American gallery with more than 150 American Indian artifacts among other galleries.
One of my favorite piece of art was this large paper sculpture. The details were amazing and I just cannot fathom being so talented!
There was a temporary gallery with art made of so many different media.
Isn’t this eagle glorious! The museum opened in 2003 and has the largest permanet exhibition of Western art in the world. The Museum was named for Sam Booth, a friend and mentor to the founders of the Museum.
This permanent sculpture is one of the many large and small sculpures depicting western and Native Americans. The size of this one is really impressive.
The children enjoyed the interactive children’s gallery! They all stepped onto the horse and then rode the stagecoach. This area is called the Sagebrush ranch and is really fun.
We didn’t spend much time down here, but I really want to come back with my 3 year old and explore this area. There are a lot of activities to do. It would be a great rainy time outing.
Another of my favorites are the painted horses! They remind me of the painted bears in Cherokee (see post here).
My oldest has already talked about walking over for school on his early day to enjoy the exhibits without his little brothers being noisy. I think we will enjoy our membership!
A bientôt!

Was sure that paper sculpture was plaster. Oh my gosh!! What an incredible piece. I like the serious theme of some of the art and the fun and whimsy of the others. The eagle is beautiful. Would look pretty great right here in my den.
