Weekend: Key Ingredients to My Perfect Weekend
There are Sunday nights where I just exhale a soft sigh of happiness and contentment for having had a wonderful weekend. Today I am sharing which things I consider key to having a satisfying fulfilling weekend. Of course, this will look different for each person as we all have different likes and dislikes, families and schedules.
Saturday Morning Run
For the past few weeks, I have been running with a group of ladies (in their 40s to 60s) for 6 miles at 6 AM. It is an easy pace, we do different routes and we get to see the sunrise! It’s a great way to start the weekend!
Breakfast and a Little Time to Myself
I enjoy my coffee and my husband often prepares breakfast or I make myself a couple of eggs. This Saturday I took an hour to myself and headed to Target.
A Hike or Outdoor Activity
We went on a 4 mile hike as a family but we sometimes go on a bike ride, play disc golf or play outside. My favorites are the hikes or bike rides.
Church
I just started singing in the church choir (we are newer to this parish) but I used to sing in our church choir until I had children and only sporadically after that. I went to choir practice this weekend and marvel at how much we learn about the saints and the gospels through our hymns. The 3 younger boys sing with me and are behaving so much better now that they stand with me in the choir. We have a vesper service on Saturday then Liturgy on Sunday followed by church school. I teach the 8 to 12 year olds, it’s a small lively group.
More Outdoors Time
I took a book, some water and some snacks and my youngest (with some toys) and we went to the nearby Indian Mounds and sat by the river for a little over an hour and enjoyed the mild weather and sun. It was glorious! My husband dropped off two of the other boys later and we walked around the grounds.
Dinner al Fresco
My favorite meal is one that my husband grills and my favorite place to eat is on the patio outside! And no, I did not eat all of that steak. It was a mild 57 degrees so we took advantage of it.
Fire
We ended the weekend with a fire, roasting marshamallows and laughing as we sang so to see if google would recognize them. It was the perfect way to end the day.
As you can see the main ingredients to my perfect weekends are family, being outdoors and throwing in a little dose of me time! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. What is the one thing that makes your weekend successful or enjoyable?

Sounds perfect! My favorite weekends are the ones that we go out to our national park, eating delicious meals at home and meeting up with family or friends. And yes, eating outside! Can’t wait for that t happen again!

Yes yes and yes! It’s been unseasonally warm this week which might mean a really hot summer and I am not looking forward to that but I do love that we are able to have meals outdoors already here and there.

I am always so impressed with your outdoor time. I wasn’t brought up that way, so it’s been something new to me.

I remember my first years in France living in a village of 700 and we spent most of our time outdoors. Later on when we moved we took vacations camping in the Pyrenees and Barcelona so even if we lived in the city then we still got lots of outdoors time.

What a lovely life (except for that 6:00 run…I’ve only been asleep for a few hours)! I’m going to have to follow your recipe a lot more closely, Mireille!

This all sounds like a wonderful weekend! I so rarely get time to myself in the morning now it’s summer – the kids wake up with the sun, haha! So it’s definitley a treat if they sleep in and I get time to myself 🙂
Family time is the best part fo the weekend, but I like that little quiet time to myself in the morning before it begins, ha!
Hope you are having a great week! 🙂 Another wet and stormy one here!

It gets easier to have some time to myself as they get older and my boys don’t sleep in either apart from the teenager so they are up wanting breakfast pretty quickly.

I’ve missed singing (I did sing from my spot before since I know most of the words) so it is nice to be part of it again.
