Styling a Denim Jacket for the April Sunday Showcase
Welcome to the Sunday Showcase where I join Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood the first Sunday of the month to feature a theme and share some style inpiration with you. Feels like it was just recently that I posted about denim jackets sharing lots of outfit ideas with you. Today, I am showing yet another way to wear your denim jacket (I really could have chosen any of mine) by pairing it with a shorter dress and cowboys boots. Wearing your western boots does not mean that you will look like a cowgirl even if you pair it with a denim jacket which makes both pieces versatile. Don’t forget to check out Ada’s post for more pictures of her cute outfit.
I wore my boots to church a couple of Sunday’s ago and decided that featuring them again in this post would be perfect as they really pair well with dresses. You never can go wrong with adding a denim jacket to a dress either: I have never found an outfit that they didn’t work well with one of my denim jackets. I do have a preference for pairing certain dresses with certain denim jackets but I really think any of mine would have worked well in this case.
This jacket was thrifted and I like its uniqueness with the darker denim and the straight collar. I have been rolling the sleeves a lot with my jackets lately so I am not as warm. The dress is a sleeveless dress so is more appropriate for summer weather wise but the colors really can work for all seasons with a topper.
There is actually no pink in the dress but I really like the contrast in color with the blues and red of the dress. My mom picked this dress for me for $2 on clearance at JCPenney. Nice find and this is the first time I have worn it so it felt like shopping even though I didn’t.
You saw this purse last week in Monday’s post, a hand me down from a friend. I do need to wear it more often so after these pictures I kept it out. Such a pretty pink for spring. And the same pink Ada is wearing in her skirt!
The day of these pictures was kind of a stressful day. I had to take my mother in law for a follow up appointment at the doctor then when I got my car oil changed I found out why my car was clunking and making strange noises: a costly 2 days getting fixed up before spring break! Then when my son asked the counselor for his school ranking, she gave him the wrong info. I knew for sure that wasn’t his so after he asked her to check if it she had looked up the wrong student and she assured him she hadn’t, I called her. She was very apologetic because yes, that is what she had done: looked up the wrong student. Very proud of my oldest success in school!
This coming fall, I will have 4 kids in 4 different school! I went to the middle school orientation this past week too and at the writing of this post, I am impatiently waiting to see if my son was a spot in the Georiga Pre K as it is based on a lottery system for the number of spaces they have. If he doesn’t have a spot I will enroll him in a preschool or another Pre K program but I would rather him go to this one as it is in the school system. Update: he’s in!
We’ve had a lot of wind recently when we take pictures and half of my pictures have my hair blowing but at least it is not in my face! I will have to feature this dress without a topper this summer. It is like a wrap top and I had to use a little pin to keep it together. I am ready for sandal season but am content to wear my closed toe shoes a little longer as I know our summers are long and start in the spring! I ended up wearing it with a lighter denim jacket and burgundy Converse on Friday for church.
So if you do not have a denim jacket, I think having at least one is a must! You are sure to find one in your style whether thrifting or shopping retail. And don’t forget to check Ada’s post!
Feature Blogger
This month, I have chosen Leslie as my feature blogger. Leslie is a mother, wife and grandmother with a fun style and a lovely backyard pool area which I am very envious of! She writes at Once Upon a Time Happy Ever After and host the 10 on the 10th linkup once a month on… the 10th. In her post she shared some very pretty sweatshirts (mine are much more casual) and I love how she style her heart with her pretty pleated pink skirt.
After writing this, I realized that I looked up at the other link up I am part of to choose my feature blogger but decided to keep her as maybe you have never checked out her blog and I think you should! Thanks to everyone who linked up last month. I always enjoy reading as many as the posts as I can.
I will probably be a little late reading posts and answering comments this week though as we are on spring break and I plan on a little blogging break. I will not bring my computer to help me focus on relaxing and spending time with my family!
Don’t forget to link up your latest family friendly blog on Instagram posts!

I love your outift! I almost wore my demin jacket yesterday as it is finally starting to warm up enough.. but I ended up wearing an army green one instead. Good luck with all 4 kids in 4 different schools; that’s never easy!

I’ve pretty much been wearing one every weekend at church.

Mireille, this dress is so adorable! And what a buy for just $2! I love it paired with your denim jacket and cowboy boots! I have been wearing my cowboy boots frequently over the past few weeks. Now I just need to start photograhping my outfits again! Congratulations on the little guy getting into your school district’s pre-k program! That definitely makes it so much easier for all of you!

I adore that you pulled out your cowboy boots. They really are so fun to style, and I’ve been trying to hold off for sandals season to start too….when you have to wear them for 6-7 months, I want to wear my boots as much as possible, haha.

I do not believe I have every scored such a bargain! And, you look gorgeous in it which makes it even better! I cannot imagine having four children in four different schools! I only ever had to deal with two different schools.
Have a fabulous spring break!

What a great thrift store find and it looks fabulous paired with this pretty dress! I’m not a fan of cowboy boots but do like them on others and these do go so well with the outfit.
It’s aways so nice to hear good feeback from school, and how nice that your little one got a spot in your preferred Pre-K program too!

The more I wear them the more comfortable I am wearing them.

Denim jackets are sooo key- especially in the early spring when you need a more substantial layer. The wind has been wild up here in Kansas, too- it makes it so hard to shoot in! I think you handled it like a pro, though. 🙂
Wearing a color block striped shirt in my new post and would love for you to swing by and see!

That denim jacket was an awesome thrift find! It looks so good in this outfit 🙂 I haven’t ever seen a denim jacket in my size at the opshops but I keep an eye out as I would love to thrift one!
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are having a good Easter 🙂
