Shop my Closet Outfits 1-12
My goal this month is to shop my closet as I have so much variety to choose from, it helps me be creative and it really helps my wallet. If I do purchase anything, it will be thrifted and spent from the cash I earned from selling a few things this month (I have made $50). Today, I am sharing my first 12 outfits of the month. You will see a lot of bright colors as I have been inspired by Jodie to use the hastag #brightcolorjanuary and come up with some colorful outfits to brighten my day.
Dresses
I don’t wear my berets very often, but I have been inspired to wear them to church lately. The 3 looks above, I wore to church and tried a new combo with the 2 first dresses. The last mustard and royal combo is tried and true and first appeared in a blog post here.
It’s always fun to be able to wear dresses all through the seasons: I have several that hang in my closet all year long. The fuchsia dress is a tank dress and is transformed into a skirt with the addition of a sweater. The orange dress is made warmer with leggings, but since the highs were in the 60s yesterday I did not need a sweater or jacket.
Pants
I am always surprised when I come up with an outfit that really works that I had not thought of before. That was the case with the red pants. My husband gifted me the purple crop sweater for Christmas and I have been coming up with some different high waisted bottoms to wear it with. I hadn’t wore my rust top in awhile to I wore it on a rainy day with one of my favorite pairs of shoes: my leopard wedge sneakers.
The camo and yellow plaid combo is not new but it is my favorite way to wear the plaid cardigan. It just is a fun outfit! You can even see how Jodie inspired me to buy it and wear it in this post here.
Toppers
Still going strong with color! I really do enjoy getting dressed in the morning: some might call it trivial and vain but it sure sets the mood of a pleasant day when you feel good in what you are wearing and it brings a little fun in your day.
I wanted to wear my velvet bodysuit on a week day so adding my bright kimono added some coverage. Then since I had recently worn this plaid tunic dress over jeans before, I added a little something this time with a scarf and contrasting boots. Those are my last purchase, on December 27! Gail of IsThisMutton asked in her yearly survey this week what was our weakness, mine is typically shoes!
I hadn’t worn my Caite and Kylo plaid shirt in a while so decided to add a contrasting rust tee underneath and white jeans and I really like out this outfit turned out!
I hope these looks have inspired you to shop your closet! As you may have noticed there were no heavy sweaters or layers in these looks since after a cold snap at the end of December, it has been fairly mild here. I do hope to wear those in the coming weeks, though!
A bientôt!

I am always amazed at the variety I can come up with and it really helps me to not have pieces I do not feel like wearing in my closet.

Loved seeing these closet-shopped looks. Such a nice way to reset after the holidays. I especially like the fuschia dress with the ivory sweater and the white jeans, rust top, and plaid topper.

You’re the best teacher! I am going to try to wear my berets a little differently after seeing how to wear them 5 different ways.

LOVE them all. I have a little white sherpa jacket that I need to show some love. Yours reminds me of mine. Maybe I can dust it off and pair it with a dress for church this weekend. Your jacket-dress look is really pretty. And I appreciate the way you can confidentally pull of the beret.
I pattern mix a bit with my camos but usually quiet little prints. Really like the bolder buffalo plaid duster with the camos. And that last blouse is so special. I have several embroidered tops that I need to wear again soon, too. Thanks for inspiring me.

No short skirts? They suit you so well. I told myself not to buy in January and February…… don’t know if that will work though lol.

No shorts skirts: not too practical for day to day!

I just saw someone share 5 ways to wear a beret so I am going to try to vary how I put mine on! My goal with these recap posts this month is to remind everyone to try different things or remind them of what they have. I really like my winter/fall wardrobe!

Oh, these are all such good outfits, Mireille! I love that colorful kimono! Perfect dopamine dressing for sure! We have had the strangest weather. I worry it hasn’t been cold enough for my plants to go dormant. I know the cold snaps we have had may damage them. I’m trying to shop my closet more and more! Thanks for the inspiration!

It’s just wild how it is cold then warm. Trying to wear my cozy sweaters when it is cold!

I love how colourful these outfits are! It’s not always easy finding lots of bright outfits in winter, but you’ve done such a good job here. It’s impossible to pick a favourite!

Thanks, Mica! It’s been fun. I try to plan out outfits several days ahead so I can make adjustments.
