Room Redo: Creative Space for Me
This was not technically a room redo, but a portion of my bedroom was redecorated so I guess it is a room refresh! Our house is a large house and our bedroom is quite large. One area is the sleeping area with bed/side table and chest of drawers and then there is a little divider to this area where someone might have a sitting area in front of the fireplace. We do not use the gas fireplace as it is not cost effective but use one side as a prayer area. The other side looked like this:
A few weeks ago, I decided I wanted to revamp that area and create an aesthetic pleasing area where I could take pictures for IG on rainy days and use as a creative space. To make this project cost effective, I wanted to use some of what I already had.
I was using this drawer set to house my Cricut craft supplies but haven’t used it much in the past year or so. My Cricut machine was relegated to the guest closet and the supplies combined, so I would have space in the two top drawers. I took a little trip to Target and found a few things to create a pretty space. I plan to use this spot for pictures for some of my collabs which include jewelry and such. The 3 little French frames were a gift from my bestie in France.
I reused my existing glass shelf unit (also from Ikea) and stopped by Hobby Lobby to find some items in the color scheme I had started with my Target items: light pink and white. I shopped the 50% sales (it alternates from wall decor to table decor each week) and picked up several things.
I really love how it turned out! On the second shelf, tied with a ribbons are excerpt from a book on marriage that a friend rewrote on our wedding day. The Mireille metal sign I bought on a field trip to Barcelona in middle school. The large seashell was found on the beach in Mexico on my honeymoon. On the shelf above is something carved out of ivory my parents brought back from their 5 years in Ivory Coast where they were married.
I already had the two large pieces hanging and I love the color they bring to this corner. I added the furry stool from Hobby Lobby and the 3 knobs. I was surprised that my husband complimented the area after he came back from his work trip. This was a spur of the moment decision for me to change up this area.
The one costly item was this mirror from Target, but I justified with having been using my husband’s mirror he had before we even got married. If this mirror is used for 20 years, then it will be worthwhile. I love the large size, the simplicity of it and the rounded edges. It actually went on sale 10 days after I bought it so I went to Target to get a price adjustment and got $23 dollars back!
I hope you enjoyed this little tour. All included, I think I spent a little less than $180.
A bientôt!

That was so smart to get the price adjustment on the mirror. I don’t even think to do that.
And it turned out great. How the heck did you find something with your name on it. It must be a popular name in Spain??

I definitely try on larger price items. That was a nice little hunk of change. The name was made by some merchant that would twist the wire to write whatever you name was! In France though, you would see it in many places especially in the south.

Looks great, Mireille! And nice that you were able to use some pieces you already had. That’s a terrific big mirror (kudos on catching the price adjustment).

I’ve been lucky lately with catching the price changes at Target.

What a pretty area for blogging/IG, Mireille! I love the pink accents. I have a large chevalier mirror that I’m thinking of just haning on the wall after painting it. It just takes up too much room in my closet. The only problem then is I can’t really move it. But, my new bedroom is so small compared to the last one. I don’t even have a chair in this one. Thanks for sharing!

Maybe you can get a visitor to move it for you!
