Hamilton Gardens in Hiawassee, GA

Hiawassee is just 15 minutes or so from Hayesville, GA and home to a beautiful lake, Lake Chatuge. We first caught a glimpse of the lake on our way to Hamilton Gardens. The gardens are free except during the Rhododendron festival which had actually just ended a couple weeks before our visit. Sadly, most of the blooms were gone but the views were still beautiful and we did find a few bushes with colorful blooms.

The garden has several trails that loop and we made sure to follow one that went all of the way down to the lake. On the way, we stopped to admire the sights and relax.

Everyone enjoyed the views of the lake, I had a couple of the boys take pictures and a video for an outfit reel and blog post, and my husband and the two oldest sat on a bench and talked for a while.

I actually have made the picture above my wallpaper on my phone: so peaceful and pretty! There were a few boats on the lake but nothing close to the gardens which was really nice.

It was kind of neat to see the Great Laurel (Rhododendron) in different stages of bloom.

There were also a few hydrangeas. I find it interesting that hydrangeas sometimes can dry out perfectly to be a year round decor but others don’t. I have a couple nice dried blooms from my friend’s plant that have a permanent home on my coffee island.

I recommend this nice walk in the gardens if you are a person that doesn’t like to hike but likes nature.

A bientôt!
