Unusual Color Combination
Great minds think alike! Once again, Jodie and I thought of pairing 2 colors together for a blog post and we thought of the same colors: purple and yellow! She shared different ways to wear a yellow jacket in a post the last week of February which is the week, I took pictures for this post. I had been looking at the color wheel to come up with an unusual color combo and it is said that colors opposite each other on the color wheel compliment each other.
I am wearing a new pair of denim in this outfit, a pair of high rise vintage slim jeans from the Gap. I was influenced to buy these from KellyAnn (ThisBlondeShoppingBag) and I love them! The light wash is perfect for spring and summer and they are a little straighter than skinny jeans. Based on her recommendation, I bought them in the petite size to get a cropped length and stayed true to size (27).
The mustard yellow denim jacket was bought several years ago when I saw Jodie wear something similar on her blog. I have loved having it: it is nice and stretchy and a fun color to have in my closet. The purple top is thrifted.
My poor 13 year old! We took these pictures right at dismissal time and he was so embarrassed taking pictures as cars and buses passed by. We tried to wait till they were almost out of sight before snapping each picture. He said he should be paid hazardous pay for the embarrassment.
The reason I wanted to take pictures in this location is because the pink trees were in bloom and I knew they wouldn’t be for too long. Sadly it was a cloudy day, so they are not as bright in pictures as they were in reality.
Another fun thing about this outfit is that gold and purple are the school colors for my children. I actually bought the earrings on Etsy for the primary purpose of wearing them for school sports events. They are made out of resin.
One of the teachers at my youngest’s school complimented me on the combo. I really wouldn’t have thought to pair these two pieces together without looking at the color wheel.
I am looking forward to spring colors and weather! I spent about 10 minutes last week putting away my heavier sweaters and skirts and bringing out some of my more springy dresses, tops and skirts. I love putting certain things away for a season because it feels like a new wardrobe when the weather changes.
Have you ever worn purple and yellow together?
A bientôt!

I wish I could wear a mustard jacket as well as you do – it’s such a great color all year round, and wearing it with lavender gives your outfit a lovely spring vibe!

It’s a matter of finding the right shade: some mustards don’t work for me.
