Skirts for Days: OOTD July 20-26
Having worn shorts for a week, I decided it was time for some of my skirts to get a turn in the limelight. I chose the ones that I usually do not reach for first. While it’s okay to have favorites, if I am going to have more than just favorites in my closet, then I need to wear them! I tried to make sure to vary my toppers too as it is too easy to reach just for bodysuits!
And yes, I did start with a bodysuit! I matched the color of the top with my sandals which you cannot see as the skirt is long. Since the slit is high up (see on the right), I wore a pair of biker shorts under. Bad hair day meant wearing a hat, and here you go, an outfit for lots of errands!
Crochet Skirt and Halter Top
My crochet skirt is lined so there is no need for a slip. I paired it with navy and have to laugh that I never realized that the embroidered details on it are in the shape of dogs. I thought my MIL was crazy when she said that, but then I realized she was right!
Cargo Maxi and Colorful Top
I don’t think I had worn this thrifted top since our trip to the Republic of Georgia and I wanted something colorful for this maxi skirt. My sandals are gold, but you can’t see them. I like the skirt better with heeled sandals like here (or sneakers) but this was nice for standing up in the church choir.
Maxi Skirt and Tank
I love the print of this skirt, but I am not really impressed with the material. I bought this from a small boutique online a year or two ago that I worked with for a bit, but it’s a skirt you can find on Amazon: I feel like I paid more for a fast fashion piece that I was hoping was not a fast fashion piece. I do wear it because just getting rid of it because it is obviously fast fashion is not being smart, but I stopped shopping that boutique. There is no tag telling me what material it is and no brand on it either. While I am not a gung-ho substainable fashion person, I do try to do my part by not overconsuming, trying to thrift and be mindful of what I buy. I’d rather support small business who find their wares in other places than China and Amazon.
Monochromatic Navy
Now this skirt was a purchase from Belk in the winter, on the clearance rack. It wasn’t exactly super cheap, but I remember it being a little less than $20. I can tell the difference in quality in the material, it lays well at the waist and has pockets. I decided to pull out a halter top I hadn’t worn yet this summer. I was on a halter top kick a couple years ago when I found some on clearance and I still love the fit!
Bonus Outfits
A couple years ago, I bought several halter tops on clearance at TJmaxx for $2 and $3. This one is a perfect match for my thrifted shorts from a couple of weeks ago! Peek my oldest taking my picture! He earned a lot of money last week doing yard work, taking blog pictures and doing chores around the house: he need to replenish his funds as he spent a lot of money this summer.
I got tired of wearing my maxis and wore this outfit on Thursday: it’s thrifted head to toe! Interesting how my favorite 3 pairs of denim right now are all thrifted. The base of the outfit here, the top and denim are part of an outfit that I created with my tulle overlay dress: I cannot wait to share that post because I love the photos and outfit so much: but you have to wait till the end of September!

What a lot of colorful and fun skirts, Mireille! I have become a bit wary of boutiques, both online and brick and mortar. They do seem more fast fashion than good quality. I think that’s sad and maybe the way clothing is going. I really do try to buy items made well, with natural fibers, and from reputable retailers. That being said, you look fabulous in this skirt! I really like all of them!

I think you do a great job with what you purchase!

That’s interesting about the local boutique. I know what you mean about the quality of material and it does make a difference.
All of those long skirts would also be so fun as dresses. That’s the advantage of the longer ones.
I need to style my tulle overlay again. It has so many possibilities,

It was an online boutique, not one in town. I have done that with some of them but not yet with the navy one.

Your top skirt reminds me a lot of a skirt I own!

Thanks, Kathrine! I really do! I have been making sure to watch out what I buy… the one I don’t like the material (even though the print is pretty) may end up donated at some point though.

The halter top style looks great on you. I especially love the bright aqua + print shorts version and the navy version.

Thanks! I really like wearing them even if I have to wear a strapless bra with them.

Lots of cute and colorful skirts! I’m trying to be more intentional about wearing dresses and skirts this summer.

It’s a good exercise for me to do this as some things don’t get worn as often.
