Date Night White

Last month, my husband and I celebrated our 22nd anniversary. It had been a while since we had gone out, so I wanted to dress up. I came across a cute outfit to replicate on IG and took note of it. I share the inspiration picture at little later in the post. I always regret not planning date nights more often as the boys are old enough now to take care of themselves for a couple of hours, but sometimes budgeting gets in the way or scheduling does: from week to week, my husband schedule changes so I cannot plan to much in advance usually. In this case, we decided to go out after church since our son was coming over on Sunday (which was our real anniversary) because his 18th birthday was the next day.

I am sharing a little collage I made for my husband: I thought it was a fun side by side of what we looked like then and now.

As you know I love shopping my closet and combining things in new ways, and this was an easy outfit to put together: I combined a thrifted dress with thrifted boots, and my earrings were a gift: what a bargain, but cute outfit! I added some shorts for modesty and wore my two favorite rings: a turquoise one and an opal one (a gift from the hubby). We went out to a nice restaurant and really enjoyed our time together.

I love the embroidery details on this dress. I first shared it on the blog with sneakers a few months ago here. I do like it better with the boots and I think it would be pretty with heels too. And who doesn’t like pockets in a dress?

Here is my inspiration picture. I love how much I am wearing these white boots! Western boots are really fun with pretty much anything!

My mother in law had a great idea to wear this dress with a skirt under for church (it is too short) and I need to see if either of my two white skirts will work with it. I have worn it with a pair of leggings before and that turned out pretty cute too!

A bientôt!

That is a lovely outfit! We don’t often plan date nights more than a day or two in advance now that the boys are old enough to take care of themselves and their food. In fact we just made reservations on Wednesday for tonight’s date. We shoot for at least one date night every other month.

Happy 22nd anniversary! It sounds like you had a lovely celebration. I love how you found inspiration on Instagram and managed to create such a stylish outfit from your closet! The combination of the thrifted dress and boots sounds fantastic, especially with those beautiful embroidery details. It’s great that you’re getting creative with layering, too—your mother-in-law’s idea to wear a skirt underneath sounds perfect for church! Here’s to more date nights and stylish outfits!
