Denim Dress for Date Night

When I thrifted this dress this summer, I liked several things about it: the fit (as long as I don’t eat a big meal before) and the versatility of it: the zipper is functional and unzips completed which means it will be perfect as a long fitted denim jacket. I will be sharing a look with it as a jacket next month, so stay tuned. Because the dress is very fitted, I probably will wear it the most as a jacket, but I like the opportunity to style it this way too.

I actually used to have another denim dress (that I had won in a giveaway), but because it was so loose on me, I didn’t wear it much and finally sold it at my last yard sale.

I like these (also thrifted) peep toe booties for fall: when it is past sandal season, but not yet booties season, they are a good option. The clutch used to be my mom’s and she gave it to me last year as she was going through her closet.

Because of my husband work schedule (he travels out of town most weeks), I find it hard to plan a monthly date night. It is harder to plan when he isn’t sure which days he is traveling and a lot of the restaurants in our little town are closed on Mondays which typically would be a good day for a date. I like to keep the weekend nights for family dinners with the boys.

Now that the boys are older, it is easier to take an hour or two in the middle of the day on a Saturday for an impromptu day date, but we don’t often take advantage of that possibility. I really need to plan better.

Do you plan regular date nights or day dates? Have you found a trick that helps you be consistent especially if you still have children at home?

A bientôt!

We don’t plan regular date nights either but do find it easier to be more spontaneous now that the boys are older.. though I can’t say we make a concerted effort to do it all that regularly!

We don’t plan date nights, but I plan so much that it’s basically like many date nights, haha.
Love the dress and can’t wait to see it styled as a jacket,

You look absolutely stunning in this denim dress, Mireille! I like that you can wear it as a jacket, but, gosh do you look fabulous in it as a dress!

We never had date nights when the kids were little. But, after they were older, Saturday nights were our date nights. We would always dress up and go to my favorite restaurant (which has been closed since Covid). Later, it became Wednesday nights because that was the night the Mexican restaurant we liked ran a special we liked. I don’t think we’ve had a date night for a while though we did go out for my birthday last week. It didn’t really feel that special, though.
