Western Outfit with Crochet Vest
I thrifted this vest early in October and I searched Pinterest for some ideas on how to style it. I thought that this would be the perfect outfit for the West Fest in town. What I didn’t take into account was that it was going to be pretty warm (85 degrees), and that most of the activities were outdoors. We watched a birds of prey show, the OK corral shootout reenactment and the Native American dance presentation. All of these were outdoors and while we tried to sit in the shade, I think I was a little dehydrated after running a 10K that morning.
So while I am smiling in all of these pictures, I was really hot and I had a pretty good headache. Thankfully, it never turned into a migraine, but I did have to take medicine and take a nap when I got home. But, let’s talk for a minute about what I wore!
When I thought of this outfit, I texted Jodie to get her opinion about which pair of cowboy boots I should wear, and whether I should wear my belt over or under the vest. This was what we decided upon. The vest, boots and belt are all thrifted. When I bought this belt, I loved it for its turquoise color, but it was too big. My dad was able to add a few belt holes so I could wear it comfortably.
I bought the blue fringe purse the same day as the vest! It is the perfect size for everything I need and it can be worn crossbody too, which is usually a requirement for me. The West Fest was in our town, so just a 10 minute drive from home. Stop by this blog post to see some pictures from the last time we went, 5 years ago. There is a short video of the hoop dancing: the young man danced this year too and was the 2019 champion.
I had my son take a close up picture of my accessories. My mom gave me the earrings as a gift a few years ago and I love how lightweight they are. The turquoise pendant was my grandmother’s. She lived in Arizona for quite a few years and had a nice collection of turquoise pieces. The bracelet is from Valerie’s Avenue. Yenni is fairly local to me and her online boutique changes over the seasons.
I just had to take a picture of these bears: we call our boys our bears! I love the different styles and each is beautiful its own way.
We ran upstairs to stop by the visiting exhibit called We the People: Portraits of Veterans in America. The large watercolor portraits depict veterans from all 50 states in their everyday life. They were beautiful!
Do you like western wear? I am loving it and you definitely have noticed how much I have been wearing my western boots this fall through my blog posts!
