Mini Skirt with Chunky Sweater Inspired By Grace per Wear
Once again, I am inspired by one of my blogging friends to put together some items from my closet in a new way. When I walked out the door with this on, my husband was very complimentary: I guess now I need to wear it out for real and not just blog pictures. You can stop by Grace’s blog here to see my inspiration look!
I don’t wear my long socks very often to where you can see them, but I really like how Grace’s socks looked, so I copied that part of her outfit too. It’s hard to see in this particular picture, but the boots are black while the skirt is chocolate brown. It’s fun to mix those 2 colors together.
The skirt was thrifted while both the sweater and boots were from Target (all from a year or two ago if not more). I thought this could be a fun Thanksgiving or Christmas outfit to wear if you were trying to be a little dressy, but still comfortable. The oversized knit is cozy and my skirt actually is pretty comfortable as long as I am not trying to sit on the floor. Most ladies have something similar in their closet even if their skirts are longer.
Over the past few years, I have been weeding my purses out (not that I had a ton) and figuring out which fit my life style and what characteristics I like to find in my purses. Three words come to mind right away: size, texture, crossbody. My favorite purses easily fit my wallet, phone and keys, and have a crossbody strap. For the purpose of these pictures I took off the strap of this purse, but you can see it fits the bill as far as purse requirements! I love the fun texture of this one!
This outfit could be geared towards either holiday with a change of purse and earrings: red would be fun! Imagine some fun green or red socks peeking out of the boots!
I love taking pictures near or in the cotton fields, but it is sometimes difficult to find a time when the sun is right or the boys are not busy. These were taken mid-day on the weekend which is why I am wearing sunglasses in all of the pictures: it was bright!
You can see that the cotton is almost ready to be picked behind me. I did manage to get to the fields twice for more blog pictures. I like to do that every year and this year both outfits feature my cowboy boots: I just keep finding ways to wear them! My son gets a little shy about taking my pictures when friends might be around so timing is always key!
I hope everyone will have a wonderful Christmas week!
A bientôt!

I absolutely adore this outfit, Mireille! I can see why your husband complimented you! The funny thing is it reminded me of something I haven’t thought about in years. When I was in 7th or 8th grade, I had a skirt that looked a lot like that one. I really didn’t like it, but I wore it anyway. I’m not sure why I didn’t like it, but you didn’t let clothes just sit in your closet back then. I always enjoy the cotton fields in the background. Do they bother anyone of you with allergies? I think I would be a mess when they were harvested as I have bad seasonal allergies.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

That’s funny! I haven’t heard of anyone having allergies with them. But it is possible. The machines they used do make quick work of harvesting the fields though.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!! I am still wearing shorter, above the knee skirts but only with tights because I have 66-year-old legs. But I love the chunky sweater with the skirt and boots. One of my favorites. And you wear it so well.

It hasn’t been cold enough for my tights, but yes, it is a nice way to wear shorter skirts.
