Valentine’s Day Look
I wore this a few weeks ago for Sunday church and thought it would be a great Valentine’s day look. I am not much one for holiday themed clothing, but rather like to wear something in a holiday color scheme. So for this look, I started to look at my closet in terms of reds, pinks and whites. I decided to wear my burgundy tulle skirt instead of my red one for two reasons: I have shared it less and the darker color is a little more understated in my opinion.
The polka dots are fun and I decided to wear black booties with it, choosing these because of the low and comfortable heel. Church means singing in the choir for a couple of hours and while I can do that in my taller boots, these are definitely more comfortable.
Did you notice my belt does not match my shoes? Remember, just like you can mix metals, you do not have to match your purse or your belt to your shoes. The main reason for me wearing a belt in this outfit was that the elastic waist (which is a black band) does not lay flat on this thrifted skirt, so I like to cover it up.
Because I wrote a blog post about wearing scarves, I have been inspired to wear my scarves more. It’s a bonus that it’s been colder, so wearing them is practical too. I was actually quite cold taking these pictures and wore a jacket half of the morning, even in church. I love this large chunky scarf for its colors and how easy it is to style.
I’ve been taking most of my blog pictures in my yard and outside my house, so it was nice to take them somewhere else. It’s been cold and I have been sharing a lot of multiple ways to wear something, so it’s often easier to do that from home because of changing clothes. But I am hoping that as the weather warms up, I will get back to finding fun spots for pictures.
I thought my Caite and Kyla (Poshmark) jacket was a great addition to my outfit: the colors and the embroidery reflect the colors in the skirt and scarf. And even though it is not thick, it is nice and heavy and warm. It is one of my favorites to wear!
A bientôt!

I love this tulle skirt! I’m not sure I’ve seen it before. The black booties look very edgy with it. I wear scarves a lot because my neck gets cold!!

I wore it for a Christmas outfit in December and way back in October when I got it. They were both part of blog posts then, but as one of several outfits.

That skirt is so cute! I love the polka dots and you’re right, this outfit turned out to be quite festive. I agree that I’m not big into the holiday themed clothing either.

The drama of the big scarf is a lot of fun, and you’re right that the embroidered jacket is great with this look!

I like that the scarf is large but not totally overwhelming like others I’ve seen.

The two things that caught my eye right away was the addition of the belt. In fact as I was blogging hopping this morning I am inspired to get a wide belt for my own closet to use in my outfits to give them a fresh look. Love the cleverness of hiding the elastic waistband and it look great! The second thing that really stood out was your coat. OMG, goregous. I love how well it went with the whole outfit. You look fantastic.

Thanks, Bo! I’ve been reaching for that particular coat more this year, I’ve always loved it but I often feel like I don’t need a layer. So cooler weather is welcome!
