Outfit Inspiration with a Neutral Long Cardigan
I have had this tan cardigan for several years now, having bought it at Target fall of 2022. As I saw it hanging in my closet, I decided to see how I wore it in the past and to wear it a few more ways this year. The oatmeal color makes it versatile and the length and weight make it a cozy layer. I have found it looks great over pants and leggings, but is cute as a dress too.
The first combo I am sharing is a simple one of leggings, tunic and cardigan.
I really like the combo of black and tan, it’s simple yet classic. Because the wind chill made it feel like about 20 degrees, I wore my beanie as well as my down jacket when I was outdoors.
That same week, I decided to wear it over my sweater dress for church: the inspiration came from how it looked as a dress. I even added red accessories to recreate the color scheme. It was a doubly cozy outfit!
Here are some other ways I wore this cardigan in the past, over jeans and joggers!
I have found that the neutral color makes it a perfect topper!
And then as a dress too!
This is the way I wore it to church last month: over a sweater dress in the same color scheme: I think this might be one of my favorites! Shopping my closet exclusively for the past 2 months has really helped me be content with what I have and has reinforced the idea that have certain basics in my closet creates endless possibilities! I’ve definitely been drawn the neutrals as the starters for my outfits.
A bientôt!

I love that you wore itas a dress, it looks amazing that way.
You should see how it looks worn upside down to make it cropped. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

I’ll need to do that again and I do need to look at one of your video to remember how to try the upside down trick.

I wouldn’t have thought to try it as a dress but it looks great that way too! I like how this shade of oatmeal looks with the red/pink shades in your outfits.

I have only worn it that that way once. Will have to do it again.

It looks great as a dress and I like it paired with the matching dress too.

It’s fun to realize how much I can do with it.

It’s indeed a very versatile colour. It looks good with a pop of colour and on your more neutral coloured outfits! Enjoy your weekend!

I have a couple neutral long cardigans and was thinking of getting rid of them. You’ve made me rethink that! I really like it worn over the shorter dress!

This is my longest and I definitely wear it more than my mid length or short ones.

What a versatile piece. I love that it looks amazing with activewear and just as amazing and super polished worn over a dress with a scarf. The boots are the finishing touch. I haven’t been able to wear my boots at all this season. Booo!!

All your boots will feel new next year! I hope your foot eventually will get back to 100% and sooner rather than later!
