Inspired by The Stylo Rouge: Oversized Blazer with Denim Skirt
All I can say is great minds think alike! Both Jodie and I thought it would be great to replicate Ashley’s outfit in a blog post so we decided to do so together! So you get 3 looks in one post today. Both Jodie and I borrowed something from our husband’s closet and I borrowed one thing from my son!
Here is the link to Ashley’s blog post
I love the texture in Ashley’s boots and wool blazer, as well as the hem on her denim skirt. Since I do not have an oversized blazer, I borrowed my 13 year old’s blazer (it is still too big for him so he’s never worn it). I do not have a white button down either so I borrowed my husband’s: it is definitely oversized on me but I tucked it in some and I really like how my copycat look turned out.
My belt is thrifted and the texture reminded me of Ashley’s boots. My light wash denim skirt with the split is very similar to hers too. I think the blazer is navy but the black in the boots is a near match. I pulled out a pair of sunglasses and took my pictures against my house and the neighbor’s to mirror her background too.
I’ve been trying to diversify and add to my earring collection this past year and I picked up this pair at a local boutique. Inexpensive but they make a nice statement.
I actually broke a pair of sunglasses that day, so I will be stopping by TJmaxx to pick up another pair. I like to have a couple on hand and I have a $5 coupon for Tjmaxx I got from Fetch (scanning my receipts). We’ve had some delightful sunny days last week!
These posts are really fun to photograph and I know my son was quite happy with taking pictures for 2 blog posts on this day: 10 minutes of work for some easy money in his pocket. I cannot wait for him to get a real job and see how work actually is. He’s been very successful at school and busy, so he hasn’t had a real job yet but I am excited for the day he does!
And now for the quote from the 13 year old: mom, you look like a pilot in this outfit!
Have a look at Jodie’s look inspired by Ashley and please stop by her blog to see more!

You did a great job with your outfit recreationg; I would be at a loss for this one since none of my guys own any sort of jacket or blazer.

It was a fun one!
Jennifer
I have a blazer just like yours!

A good addition to one’s closet.

I like the shorter skirt variant on this look a lot – it creates really nice proportions. The multiple neutrals worn together has a menswear vibe that works well with this “borrowed from the guys” look.

Thanks, Sally! I am happy with how the outfit turned out.

You both look so lovely The blazers and choice of shoes. Great choice.

I think you could: it is not something I would usually put together but it looked kind of cool!

I love how you “stole” from both your hubby and son for this one!
Great look and thanks for joining me!

It really was the way to go since I don’t think I would wear the blazer much if I bought an oversized one.

You did a wonderful job recreating Ashley’s look! I love how you pulled items from your husband and son’s closet. Shows you that it a lot easier to bring old outfits to life with a bit of creativity and borrowing! Lol I don’t own a blazer but I love how it really kicks up an outfit a notch. Love your sunglasses btw. Suits you perfectly!

Exactly! I only have some fitted cropped blazers so I had to get creative.

Ashley has great style and so do you! I love the way you switched up some of the pieces to make it your own! This outfit looks great on you!

That’s too bad: my teen is too lazy to take a job so he manages on doing stuff for me =)

I love this look on you. I would also replicate it with a shorter skirt. Jodie looks great too. A style classic!

Oh, I am laughing at your son’s comment about looking like a pilot! Ha!! Boys!
You did a great job with the outfit re-creation! A blazer always pulls a look together in my book.
