Maxi Skirts in Cold Weather with the Ageless Style Link Up

It is always interesting to see what theme is going to be suggested for our Ageless Style monthly post. I wouldn’t have thought of maxi skirts for winter, but it is a theme that gets us creative and I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this outfit on a bright cold Sunday morning. When wearing a skirt in the winter, you need to think about what to make sure you are warm and I was not cold at all.

I picked up this maxi skirt at Belk in the clearance section: I love the print and color and it even has pockets! It is very flowy and not too light for a winter day. Since it was not too cold, I did not wear my fleece tights, but just combat boots and socks.

The jacket is old from Target and the velvet bodysuit I am wearing under is from Old Navy last year. My mom saw me at church that morning and kept raving about the pretty colors. I enjoyed wearing this outfit a lot!

So to answer the question you might have about wearing a maxi skirt in winter: if you layer up appropriately, you can look pretty while still being warm! If you lived up North though, you would want to add some tights, a warm scarf and maybe a hat.

I’ve been wearing my turquoise ring as well as my opal one on the daily. Both were from antique shops. I’ve been enjoying wearing jewelry that is not massed produced.

I am so glad to have gotten in a routine with the care of my mother in law and having some help on the weekends makes such a difference in my mental health: it kind be quite depressing when you do not get a break and feel tethered to your house. While I can go about and run errands, leaving for longer than a couple hours is not recommended.

Planning some longer breaks (think a couples’ overnight trip and a couple nights trip for me solo) as me dealing with my extra chores a lot better. We still don’t know what the next few months will bring and what changes will happen but having some short term plans does help. My oldest is also graduating from high school this year so we have a lot going on! Thank you, my friends for your prayers. Having the support of my blogging friends has really been great. Communicating through IG with my Ageless Style friends has been a balm, and being able to share my struggles with my online community is special. I know my husband thinks it is weird but I have made real friends through this community, even if we have not all met in person (just a few).

Now on a little lighter subject: let’s see how the rest of the ladies wore their maxi skirts!

That is a beautiful outfit! I love the colors. Even with all my layers I was pretty cold at times (I should have worn a winter jacket but it wouldn’t have looked as nice! LOL).

That’s a great outfit which really suits you – the skirt is a lovely colour.

And I didn’t realise you were caring for your mother-in-law – is that right? One of my many jobs in my ecelectic career was as a Carers Support Worker, as in supporting the unpaid carers, the daughters, mothers, and partners who care for someone in their own home. Apologies if I’ve got this wrong but if you are doing this make sure you protect your health and get more help during the week – it’s really important. A date night or two and getting away sounds good 🙂

    You take care

I do! She has been very independent till a fall/pneumonia in December and we had a few weeks that were difficult on me since my parents are also elderly and my dad wasn’t doing well. However now everyone is much better. I do have more care for her on a daily basis (with food/bathroom) but we finally have a good routine where her kids come and stay with her a few hours on Sunday and one of her daughters is taking her to appointments. I also booked myself a solo trip to visit Jodie first weekend of April and we now have a 2 week vacation planned this summer. Things to look forward to and the rest of her children will take care of her while I/we are gone. And tonight I am going out with my girlfriends. Things might change if things turn to difficult again but right now it is manangeable for me to take care of her.

I love that bodysuit! It’s such a lovely cut and great color. I really feel like the textures in the outfit you created are so interesting and really go well together. The skirt and bodysuit just fit togeter and I love how the top is a deeper shade and the skirt has the bright colors. Lovely lady in blue!

I just love how you where the skirt in the cooler weather. And heck you could easily wear fleece leggings hundred and no one would even know!!
I’m so glad life’s been a little easier lately for you. Caregiving is just so hard. People don’t realize until they go through it!

      Xoox

That’s funny that you wouldn’t consider maxi skirts for winter, as someone who lives up north, maxi skirts or dresses would be the only skirt/dress I’d wear in winter. I never thought of wearing fleece leggings underneath till I read yours and Joanne’s blog posts. You look amazing in this outfit. I love the bodysuit your wearing with your skirt. You styled your skirt perfectly.

I love this color on you, Mireille! The print on your skirt is so fun…it reminds me a bit of peacocks. I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better about caring for your parents and MIL. I’m sure it’s stressful. I have been praying for you every night. I am thinking of a solo trip to the UK, but I need to figure lots of things out first.

Thank you so much for your prayers, Marsha. It has really improved a lot lately! Wow, a solo trip to the UK sounds quite fun! Definitely more organization than my solo weekend trip to visit Jodie, lol!

This combination of blues is stunning on you – it’s a beautiful outfit. I didn’t realize you were caring for you MIL; that’s exhausting emotionally and physically, so I am wishing you the absolute best in dealing with everything and the uncertain times ahead. Glad to hear that you planning some longer breaks to recharge.

Yes, the last couple of months were an adjustment. She has lived with us for about 5 years but only recently has needed some care and it has fallen upon me since I am home. Thankfully, things have settled and she is doing much better so less is needed of me and family has rallied around to help some.

Love the creative way you styled your maxi skirt for winter! Bright blue is a favorite color of mine, and the color of the jacket looks fabulous on you. All of the ladies look great in their selections for this challenge. I hope the stresses and challenges of caring for your MIL ease. Thanks for sharing and the link up!

I am thankful things have mostly settled into a routine and that I have had help so I can have time on my own. Things are not in a nice routine. I just went out with my friends last night and had the best time and have some really fun things to look forward to in the coming months.
