A day in my life

I always find it interesting to get a glimpse of other people’s life. What do we have in common, what do we do differently? So today I am sharing a typical day in my life. As with travel, vacations and budget, I do like to be organized in my day to day life, so every evening I list what I would like to accomplish the following day such as errands, appointments (we do not have many of those), chores, blog related things as well as foods to make (snacks and dinner).

6:00 Wake up, prep boy #2 and 3 lunches

6:20 Get boy #2 and 3 up, breakfast and to the bus stop (6:45)

Start a load of laundry if needed, make bed, get dressed, post instagram reminder of blog post M-W-F

7:30 Get my oldest up, lunch ready and drop him off at school after he takes my OOTD picture

8-12 AM

Errands, blog link ups, house chores

I usually make a grocery list on Wednesday and shop on Friday, I spend about 1 1/2 hours with blog link ups, laundry is probably every other day. I typically try to clean one area of the house for about 10 min. I walk once a week with a friend outdoors.

12-2 Baby naps: since my mother in law lives with us, I am able to go to the gym everyday (I strive for exercising 5 days a week). I spend some time on Instagram liking and commenting, and if need be I write a blog post. I also eat lunch and typically spend some time reading from a fiction book or catch up on one of my Sunday nights tv shows during this time. I have been going to the library lately and typically chose inspirational fiction to read.

I like to make bread once a week and muffins twice a week to help with the budget. I try to balance my checkbook as I go along and pay bills typically on payday. I may do some online research for upcoming vacations or brainstorm ideas for future posts.

3-5 PM All boys get home within that time. They usually do homework if they have any, then they get some time on electronics. I will prepare dinner and enjoy time to myself and with them.

5ish dinner, clean up and spend some time together. With the weather getting cooler we have been spending an hour or two outside. Twice a week I coach soccer, U6 level which is 4 and 5 year olds. Soccer take 2 hours of our day those days since the boys play at different times. Thankfully it is close by so we do not have a long commute.

7:00 Baby in bed, the older kids and I try to play boardgames a few times a week.

7:30 Bedtime routine with boy #2 and 3. They are in bed at 8. I then relax with my oldest and watch tv. I plan the following day and occasionnaly write a blog post at that time.

There it is in a nutshell! Not the most exciting daily life but it is a pleasant life! The blog has given me a creative outlet, I keep in touch with my friends and plan fun weekends and family vacations! And I try not to spend to much money, lol!

A bientôt!

I always loving getting a peek into others daily lives. You were able to get so much done. I need to start time blocking off part of my day. That’s so crazy they are on the bus that early. I’m so not a morning person.

  • Mother of 3

That sounds like a pretty great day. I too try to make a list each night of what we need to the next day including cleaning, errands, etc. I get such satisfaction from crossing them off as I go along too that it keeps me motivated to keep going.

That’s such an early start to the day for the boys! But they are probably used to it. Great idea to make a shopping list on wednesdays and go on Fridays. I cannot tell you how much I hate making shopping lists and then grocery shopping! Probably my least liked chore. I’m going to try doing it your way, then it might not be so stressful!
    Thanks for sharing!

The ads for Kroger and Aldi comes Tue and Wednesday so that gives me time to look at them and see what is left in the fridge/pantry. Sometimes we do run out of food before Friday and I will do one of the grocery store on Thursday in that case.

I agree with you Mireille, I love reading day-in-the-life posts and yours was no exception! I love that your oldest takes your OOTD photo each morning, too cute. Also coaching soccer sounds like so much fun! I’m very impressed by how much time you spend blogging/linking up, I really need to become more connected with other bloggers.
Overall, you seem very busy but it seems quite rewarding. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

    Miles of smiles,

Being a new blogger, I am really trying to do a good job getting myself out there and I have found that the link ups help me a lot! I do have a good balance of being busy and having some down time.

It is crazy how busy the day is for those of us that stay at home! I am sure your MIL living with you does help you out a bit. My kids don’t have to be at school till 8:15am, but since they go to a private school and there is rush hour involved, we land up leaving 35 minutes before school even starts! I feel that meal planning and grocery shopping, meal preparing, errands, laundry take a lot of my time! I should do one of these posts.

It would be fun to get a peek into your life! Creates a bond among us to see that we are not alone. I never thought I would be a stay at home mom but after 13 of mostly being a stay at home mom, it is hard to imagine working full time.

Yes, early mornings! The boys thought the cotton fields were really cool. It was a good experience for them.

Such cute family photos! It’s nice you have such a relaxed routine and manage to get everything done! 🙂 I need to structure my days a bit better, but if I can do blog things depends on if the boys nap or sleep well at night, ha!

Hope that you are having a great weekend! I went out to a fashion show last night, it was a lot of fun 🙂

The fashion show looked like so much fun! I am grateful for my routine. Some days are definitely more relaxed than others.

Sounds like a wonderful, beautiful ordinary day to me! Love the pictures. How great to have a cotton field to take photos in. You definitely can’t find those in my neck of the woods.

I was so happy to take picture there this year! Last year they planted soy beans and it was not so pictoresque.

I love getting a glimpse into other’s routines as well! I love that you guys try to play board games together at night. I always loved that growing up. Your photos are so cute as well!

What handsome boys, Mireille! I also am stunned by a 6:45 bus pick up time. I don’t even wake my boys until 7:00 (unless they are already up which sometimes they are). I send them off to walk to school at 8:00 which is super nice now that they go on their own. But I get up around 5:00 so I can have 2 hours of quiet before the house erupts with boys!

Your routine is not too far off from mine except I spend the time while the kids are at school (8-3) focusing primarily on blogging and other writing projects. Thankfully, my husband does the cleaning and shopping.

Thanks for sharing and joining my link party.

Yes, it is a little early! The worse is when they get up at that time on the weekend! I do like my moments of quiet too!
