Another Disc Golf Adventure
Last Sunday, we had a little bit of time in the afternoon before my son’s birthday dinner and he asked us to go play disc golf at a new to us course less than 15 minutes from the house. It is located at a day use area so it has a $5 parking fee which really was not bad for such a fun area. There is the disc golf course, the river, picnic areas, a soccer field and volleyball net and several other areas where you can enjoy nature. It also has several hiking trails that we will need to explore.
What made this course a lot of fun was that it is really in nature. We kept saying the words muck and mud as there was a lot of it around but at at least no deep pool of water so the discs were easy to retrieve (we are not experts at this game).
We have found disc golf to be a fun family activity that everyone enjoys (some more than others) and it allows us to be outside in a fun way. It involves walking without being constantly on the move.
This was our favorite basket as you had to throw the discs uphill and there was a cave behind the basket. I sure had some laughs as some of the throws went wild and the discs kept rolling down.
Once you invest in a couple sets of discs, it is a very inexpensive passtime and the last set I picked up was $20 at Academy Sports. My 11 year old loves it so much that he already said he wants to go back to this course on Saturday since we only had time to do about half of it.
I think it will be really nice to come out here in the spring and early summer as it will be shaded and it won’t be as cold: so far we have only played disc golf in the winter.
I am glad we have found this family activity as it gets us to spend time as a family, is an outdoor activity and a nice way to get some exercise. Do you have any outdoor activities that your family enjoys together?
A bientôt!

What a neat course tucked into the woods like that. We have a few courses near us but I’ve never been (though we have walked/ hiked all over near the courses).

I sweat you guys do the funnest things Mireille. Even I would love this. But this course looks so much more challenging, haha.

I was just an observer for this time which actually made it more fun for me since I could laugh at some of the throws since I wasn’t throwing!

I’ve never heard of this, but how fun! We like to spend time as a family outdoors too, hiking or riding our bikes. Such a fun way to explore!

I was introduced to the game by my 11 year old who was playing it in PE.

It looks like a fun course and it’s nice you all got to enjoy it together – that one with having to throw the discs up the hill but not into a cave looks really tricky, haha! 🙂
Hope that you are having a nice week 🙂 It’s a big week here – first week of school for the kids after the summer holidays!
