Red for Valentines: February Sunday Showcase

I love it when I can find something new to share for a theme that is a yearly theme. Around the holidays, it is nice to share some outfits that one might wear for a special occasion or a themed outfit so today, I was happy to be able to share a newer dress that hasn’t seen the daylight yet. Today, Ada and I are sharing some red outfits and accessories for the month of Love and Friendship!

I typically do not have any luck with maxi dresses on Amazon: they have been too tight in the bodice, been unflattering, have had mistakes in the sewing and I have always had to return them. However, I have bought a couple of knee length dresses that have worked out. This cute bouncy red/orange dress is a winner and I bought on sale with a giftcard. I am planning to wear it on my next date with my husband and will just have to decide which boots to wear. Today I am showing you how a dress can look different by changing just one accessory or two.

The first look pulls out the black from the dress print with the hat, boots and earrings. I added a wide belt to define the waist even more.

The dress has a very nice thickness to it and is appropriate for several seasons of the year. In colder states you could had tights and of course a nice jacket but I took advantage of this 60 degree whether to show off the dress without layers.

In trying to enjoy the now as my Friday post talked about, I am trying not to wish for snow but enjoy the mild and sunny days we get even in winter. It sure lifts up the mood to see the pretty skies. If you look closely, you can see the rainbow in the fountain behind me.

Look 2 combines a different hat with my combat boots. These are probably my favorite combat boots as the color is forgiving with dirt and they just seem to really go with everything.

For the last look, I switched my boots for a lighter pair. The thing I like about shoes is that they really can change an outfit. I do have quite a few pairs of boots and booties in my closet but I do wear them all.

I really want my blog to inspire you to look at your closet differently. Yes, you might want to add some things to it here and there but I want you to look at what you have differently. First make sure it is not overflowing with things that do not fit you, that are not your style anymore because then the pieces you actually like will be hidden and disappear. Then get inspiration from others to create new outfits and combinations. Have you thought about changing out accessories, switching out shoes, combining new colors together? I love copying other bloggers’ outfits with what I already have that is similar in my closet.

Here is a peek at Ada’s red and pink accessories! So cute! I love how her different lipsticks also add to the outfits. Pretty! Don’t forget to stop by her blog post to see more!

I go back and forth in the winter with wearing neutrals then wearing brights so I really enjoyed I wish I was back in style’s post about neutral colors. Her style is very classy and she has the most delightful shoes and accessories.
