Tweed with the Ageless Style Link Up
It was my turn to choose a theme for the month of January, and as I was putting together some outfits to wear one week in November, I thought it was time to wear this skirt again. While I have seen many tweed jackets while thrifting and some really cute ones, I have never brought any home, maybe because I really don’t need another jacket especially one that I might not wear as often as my others. However, I really do like this tweed mini skirt I have had for several years even if I don’t wear it often. I usually wear it about twice each winter (I shared it…

Hike at Pine Log Creek Trailhead
It was December 29 and while most of my family was recovering from a nasty cold or the flu, I did not relish the idea of staying indoors despite the cooler day. It felt nice and brisk, the sun was shining and while we didn’t want anyone in the cold air, I needed to get out. I walked 3 miles with my friend that morning, but the afternoon was beautiful, so I posted on our gals’ running group-me thread to see if anyone was interested to hike a new to me trail. One of the gals I hadn’t seen in a year responded, so I picked her up and we…

Layering a Blouse under a Sweater
When I started brainstorming ideas for blog posts from the month of January, different micro trends were mentioned including layering button downs under different pieces in your closet. As you may have noticed, trends and micro trends are really nothing new, they typically cycle an old idea with a new name in an attempt to have us shop more. But quite often, we can look through our closet and find something that fits the trends that appeal to us. Animal prints? We all have them! Brown? We probably own something in brown! Since I am on another shopping break till Feb 1st, I shopped my closet for a new to…

Time for a Repeat Outfit: Denim and Vest
Sometimes, an outfit is so good, you have to repeat it. Last month, we took an overnight trip to North Georgia and I decided to wear this outfit which I wore exactly in the same manner (minus the shoes) last January (here). The outfit is second all the way minus the earrings. It is one of those outfits that thanks to the neutral tones of it makes me feel put together while being really cozy thanks to the fuzzy vest. When we arrived at the Brasstown Valley Resort, we checked in and dropped our bags and the boys and I then went for a walk. We did not cover the…

Horse ride and Overnight Trip at Brasstown Valley Resort
My husband and I spent a few days at the Brasstown Valley Resort for our anniversary last October and we really enjoyed the resort and location. I share about our trip in a post last month and while we were there, I thought that my boys would like coming over the Christmas break for a short overnight trip. I knew the decor would be pretty and I thought the boys would enjoy the amenities too. Decor I was right! The decor was beautiful! The lobby with its fireplace in use was very cozy, and we spent some time there playing Scrabble. I woke up early that morning and brought my…

3 Thrifted Jackets for Winter
One of my goals this winter was to find a red coat as I had donated the one I had owned for years last year. It wasn’t my style anymore as it was more of an oversized fit and I was ready to part with it. With that goal in mind, I went thrifting one day in December. I have this love for layers even though it doesn’t stay cold very long here. Yes, we do wake up with temperatures in the teens sometimes, but it usually warms up to the 30s or even 50s that same day. Of course, we do have some days that it stays cold all…

Tulle Skirts for Winter
Tulle skirts have become part of my trademark outfits and I have shared them many times on the blog. I love the ethereal vibe and femininity of a tulle skirt. Here are some recap blogs when I have worn them: early fall inspiration valentine’s day look red tulle skirt for winter red tulle skirt for fall red tulle and stripes tulle dress for winter tulle and faux leather tulle: dress over a dress whimsical outfit with overlay tulle I had a few more posts, but I think this gives you a good idea on how much inspiration you can find to wear a tulle skirt whether you are 30, 40…

Bethlehem Walk
One of the things on my bucket list for December was to take the boys to a Bethlehem Walk in Marietta. I had taken my two oldest years ago (maybe 10+ years) and had really enjoyed it. So we made time on our schedule and after trying to go the first night (it was too long of a line and wait), we went on the closing night which was a Monday. The drive is about 35 minutes from our house and the Bethlehem Walk takes place outdoor on the grounds of a Methodist church. Everyone is dressed in the time period of Christ, and you walk through the “city” stopping…

Restyling my Rust Skirt for Winter
I may like to wear some fun outfits, but I also enjoy wearing a simple outfit too! I wore this skirt this fall for a date look on my anniversary trip and knew I wanted to wear it again in the winter! I actually wore it on a cold fall afternoon a couple weeks ago, and decided to take advantage of of slow traffic downtown caused by a train on the tracks to take pictures outside the building of the Western museum. I went for a simple look wearing a nice knit sweater from Loft my friend gave me recently, and chose my black boots to reflect the black in…

Holiday Looks for Everyday
Today, I am sharing some outfits I wore this month where I tried to incorporate a little holiday spirit. You will notice a theme of pairing fun textured sweaters of different colors and types with mostly denim and the occasional scarf. I love wearing velvet and sparkles in December and January and one way to do that and not feel overdressed is to pair it with denim and relaxed shoes. So here are some of my favorite looks! A velvet top I found for $1 thrifting! This is the cutest top with bell sleeves and so easy to wear. I plan to wear it with a skirt too, but it…
