Week of Outfits: Last Week of August

I really enjoy Jodie’s (Jtouchofstyle) weekly outfit share on Saturdays because it is real life and often gives me some inspiration for outfits of my own. This week’s outfits are very varied once again and several were inspired by some of the IG ladies I follow. They inspired to put together outfits from my closet that I hadn’t thought of paired together before. But first came my weekend outfits which usually is two a day since we go to church both Saturday night and Sunday morning. Saturday My 6 year old learned how to ride his bike last week, so today was a little try out for a longer ride…

    White Dress and Lavender Fields

When you have an idea that works, you use it again. Last year, the boys and I went to a local lavender field and took some pictures. I did donate the white dress from that post this year as I really don’t think that is what very becoming and I didn’t want to wear it anymore. The white also wasn’t as crisp as when I bought it (it was several years old at least). We’ve had a lot of rain this July and the fields were past their peak and in their 4th year. The family that bought the house (it came with the field) is going to create a…

    Runner’s Spotlight: Bo

A few of my blogging friends are runners, and I will be sharing some of their stories in the next few months. Bo lives in Canada and during the winter months shares beautiful pictures of snow (we in the South would love to see snow more than once every 6-7 years), shares her fashion as well as her adventures in life which include a lot of outdoors time. Today, she is sharing her running journey. 1. How and when did you start running? That’s a great question that made me think way back.  I initially became interested in running while in University and nannying for a woman that I became…

Thrifted White Cowboy Boots: Summer to Fall Look

While I was visiting Jodie in Arizona this past spring I kept my eyes out for a pair of cowboy boots, but we didn’t come across any. So this summer, when she stumbled upon this pair in our size, she asked me if I wanted them. She tried them to make sure they were comfortable and sent me a picture to see if I like them. With the okay from me, she bought them and shipped them to me: I thought that $30 was a good deal as the ones I have seen second hand here have been a lot more so far and not in my size. When I…

    August Weekly Outfits

Too many cute outfits not to share! I am gearing up for a month or so of no shopping and any time I plan a time period like that, I like to do a little reorganizing in my closet to give it a fresh look. This time it was moving my striped short sleeve tops with the rest of the short sleeves tops: I thought I “needed” more tops until I put them next to each other and realized I had a lot of choices. Saturday I wore two different olive top (one about 6 years old and one recently thrifted). It got so warm in the afternoon that I…

Patriotic Looks to Be Inspired By

Even though, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day have gone by, I thought I would share some inspiration for patriotic looks that you can wear any day of the year or bookmark to be inspired by for some outfits next summer. I love wearing patriotic colors without actually wearing a flag (I used to wear an Old Navy patriotic tee each year in the past) and be more subtle in dressing for holidays. Each of these were worn the week of the 4th of July. Embroidered Top and Bermuda Shorts I thrifted this Caite and Kyla top on Poshmark a few years ago and I wear it a few…

    World of Coca Cola

Back in the spring, my best friend from college came to spend her spring break in Atlanta with her family. Our boys are really close in age  and we hadn’t seen here in a couple of years, so we were excited to hang out with her and her family. We went to Six Flags one day and the Georgia Aquarium. While her husband and boys spent the afternoon visiting another roller coaster park, we decided to visit the new (to us) World of Coca Cola: last time I had visited the Coca Museum was with my brother about 20 years ago. The museum is right across for the GA aquarium…

    Summer Outfit for the Zoo

What do you wear for an outdoors summer outing? Anything that is comfortable and breathable: for me that is a skirt on the shorter side and a simple tee. I could have easily worn a tank top, but I am trying to make sure to wear everything in my closet, so I picked this thrifted Talbots skirt and a soft tee in a similar color scheme. I bought that tee before our trip to Costa Rica last year. I went minimal with accessories with a turquoise ring and a little cross necklace I bought on our trip in Georgia. First time I wore sneakers since our trip and I decided…

What do you consider a splurge item?

When Marsha suggested this theme, I thought it would be fun to see what everyone considered a splurge item. I do have a few pieces in my closet that cost more than this dress, but I have shared them several times on the blog such as my New Orleans skirt or my “real” cowboy boots. So I spent a few minutes in my closet and realized how much was thrifted or bought on clearance or just a good deal. I then took a look at my dress and while this was not my most expensive dress, I consider it a splurge item because I bought it for a special occasion…

    Runner’s Spotlight: Amber

Amber is one of those runners that you aspire to be. She is quick, she is competitive, but she is also sweet and while having her hands full with work and being a single mom of 4, she shows dedication in everything she does. Amber recently injured her knee but was quickly back on her feet after surgery and rest, and is back stronger than ever! She is again faster than me! 1.When did you start running? And why do you run? I started running in 4th grade. We had this project to build for our school and it was a trail. My teacher at the time was big into…
