Tan Vest Outfits Inspired by Jodie and KellyAnn

For the past 6-8 months, I have seen different friends sharing cute outfits with tan vests on IG and on their blogs. I’ve checked the aisles while thrifting but haven’t come across any vests so far. Finally, in June, I did a little internet search and saw that Belk carried some tan vests. Since our little town has a Belk,  I decided to see if they carried any in store since I really like to try things on before ordering online. They had something I liked in size medium, but it was too big, so I ordered it in size small. Perfect! Inspired by Jodie By now, you know that…

Thrifted Denim Vest with Monochrome Black

I thrifted this denim vest a little over a month ago in a little antique booth in town. While my son (the 10 year old) still proclaims it is not my style, I love it! I love the cropped length, the raw hem and the little colorful details. I have worn it a couple ways so far, but this has been my favorite outfit with it, so I had to document it. While I like colorful outfits, I really do love neutral outfits too. There is something calm and quiet about them. A monochromatic look in a neutral is always classy even if it is casual like this one. The…

The Budweiser Clydesdales Come to Town

For the month of the July (our 2nd and last month of summer break), my goal was to have fun, but to do some more budget friendly things after our 2 weeks vacation to Europe and a weekend tubing in the Ellijay. So when I saw that the Budweiser Clydesdales were going to be downtown in our little town for a couple of hours, we made sure to stop by to admire them before going to the movies (we signed up for AMC rewards which gives us 25% of our tickets and $5 Tuesday movies). My youngest was at first unimpressed about going to see some horses. If he wasn’t…

    Tropical Pants 5 Ways

When I looked at my TJmaxx receipt, these pants were described as swimwear.  I beg to differ as the material would not be great wet over a bathing suit! So I consider these true pants and while they are a little on the thin side, I do not think they are see through. The color grabbed my eye when I went in to buy some hand soap and body wash, and I just had to try them especially that I was taking a second look my flowy pants at the time. I really try to have in mind several outfits with something new I buy, especially if I am not…

“Mini” Dresses: OOTD for the last week of July

This will be my last OOTD post for a little while: I feel accomplished having rotated a few different sections of my closet the last few weeks. First with my thrifted shorts, then my maxi skirts and last my shorter dresses. While the exercise was fun, I did find it a little boring to wear the same style of clothes several days in a row. So I will be back to my regular diverse outfits for a while. TJMaxx Dress I’ve worn this dress for the blog and to go to the rodeo with my cowboy boots! On this occasion, I went to the grocery store and errands and just…

Casual Look for the Park: Hand me down Dress

Last month, my sister in law gave me a dress that did not fit her anymore. She hadn’t worn it in years, but because she had loved it, she wanted to share it with someone who would love it too. She knows that I won’t take something just because it’s free, so she brought it over and when I saw the color of the dress and the fun neckline, I told her, yes, this was definitely a dress that I would wear! Comfort! That is the one word I would use to describe the dress I am sharing today! It makes me think of tennis or golf dresses, but in…

Republic of Georgia: Last Thoughts from our Trip

Today is the last post chronicling this summer’s two week vacation to Georgia. We were able to visit two areas during our visit, the capital, Tbilisi, as well as the sea port of Batumi. We ate and walked and spent time with our friends. We shopped and ate some more, and really enjoyed what this beautiful country has to offer. This was our 3rd visit (the first two being 7 and 6 years ago), so we knew what to expect, but still were able to visit new parts of the city and country. One thing we had not done before was go to one of the flea markets. There were…

    Tulle and Denim

I had a couple of ideas on how to style my tulle overlay “dress”, but the ideas I had for summer did not translate the way I thought they would in reality. Then I remembered that Jodie recently layered her tulle skirt under a denim skirt in one of her recent post (see here by scrolling to the end of her post) and I decided to try that: success: a cool outfit to wear for Saturday night church! There are some days, I just reach for an easy tried and true combo while other days, I like to get the creative juices going and come up with some fun outfits…

Skirts for Days: OOTD July 20-26

Having worn shorts for a week, I decided it was time for some of my skirts to get a turn in the limelight. I chose the ones that I usually do not reach for first. While it’s okay to have favorites, if I am going to have more than just favorites in my closet, then I need to wear them! I tried to make sure to vary my toppers too as it is too easy to reach just for bodysuits! And yes, I did start with a bodysuit! I matched the color of the top with my sandals which you cannot see as the skirt is long. Since the slit…

    Mtatsminda Park and Funicular

The funicular from Chonkadze St to Mtatsminda Park is 501 meters long and gives you a pretty view of the city. The amusement park at the top offers fair type rides which you pay for individually (just a few laris each). The ride was 10 laris one way so we paid 20 laris each (the 6 year old was free). That came to 100 laris for the 5 of us (my husband hadn’t come back from church so this was an adventure on our own) which equals to $36 total. The walk was about 30 minutes from the hotel and it was a pretty warm day. We had taken a…
