Zebra Blazer: 3 Ways
At some point this summer, I took one of my friends thrifting in my town. We first visited my favorite thrift store and then before heading to my house for lunch, we stopped by the little community thrift store downtown which sells clothes for $1, $2 and $3. Pants, shorts, skirts and tops are $1 while bulkier items like vests, blazers and jackets are $2 and $3. I wasn’t planning to buy anything, but the print of this jacket caught my eye and I couldn’t pass it up. It’s a thicker material, more jacket-like than blazer-like, but I will be wearing it the same ways I would style a blazer,…

Make a Classic Floral Dress Edgy: Part 2
Since I haven’t worn my floral maxis much lately, I have been finding ways to wear them without layering a jacket over them. Last week, I shared how I added a cropped denim vest to add a little of an edgy vibe to one dress (here) and today, I am sharing another way to style a wrap floral dress. I still love these dresses, but I seem to wear them more in the fall and spring with either a sweater or a denim jacket over them and with boots. I love how this outfit turned out, and while you can’t see it in pictures, the way the dress flew while…

Birthday Celebration in a Lemon Print Dress
What fun 50th birthday celebrations! I shared a little about both in last week’s summer recap post. Today, I am sharing the dress I wore for the brunch celebration 2 of my running besties threw for me. The sunrise crew (our group of gals who run Saturdays at 6 AM) brought food and we enjoyed a delightful time around the table! I thrifted this lemon and orange print dress in Chattanooga earlier in September. It caught my friend Rachel’s eye and since it didn’t fit her, I decided to try it on. While I did not have the right attire under, I could imagine how it would look done right,…

Classic Floral Maxi Dress Made Edgy: Part 1
My style has evolved over the years, I have gotten more confident about what I like to wear and am drawn to certain elements. A couple of years ago, I wrote a blog post describing my style as colorful, practical, boho, fun and textured (read the post here). I think that definitely still describes my style. I also like to add some edge to feminine outfits and not have them be too sweet. Because of this, I haven’t worn my floral maxi dresses much: on their own, they are very feminine and I just want something with a little more oomph and interest! So this week and next, I will…

Inspired by Jacqui: Tan Crochet Skirt and Vest
I am always excited when one of my blogger friends wears an outfit that inspires me to wear 2 items in my closet in a new way. A few months ago, Jacqui wore this pretty outfit on her blog (here) and I knew I had similar items I could wear to replicate her look. I have worn my tan vests a few times, but not in a monochromatic column and I really liked the added texture of the skirt. I was a little too quick to delete pictures this summer (I took these at the end of June) so I only have 3 pictures to share instead of my usual…

Colors of Fall with the Ageless Style Link Up
When Colors of Fall was suggested as our September theme for the Ageless Style Link Up, I knew right away that I wanted to wear this skirt that I thrifted for a few dollars in August. I had no idea which top I was going to wear with it, but when I realized how nice the lighting was an evening a couple weeks ago, I decided that we were going to take several sets of blog pictures. My youngest had just spent some of his money on a ninja dress up outfit, so he wanted to replenish his coffers. One of my favorite colors to wear in the fall is…

Another Boho Look: 3 pieces from Just BeYoutiful Boutique
Since I went shopping with Jodie at Just BeYoutiful, a local to her boutique on my trip to Arizona, be prepared to see a lot of cute clothes from there on the blog. I spent the majority of my fun money there and came home with some treasures! Today’s outfit is inspired by a Pinterest Look which I will share at the end of this post and I combined new pieces with a couple of my own. Kym does not have a shopping website, but she shares on her Facebook and Instagram pages and you can reach out to her and she will ship. She always have new pieces at…

How to Style a Strapless Tulle Dress for Everyday
While I love this dress styled on its own (I loved my birthday post outfit!), I do love the idea of wearing it for every day. So, this summer, I styled it for church and for errands too. It’s just a matter of toning the dress down a little and layering over and (and I will need to try under it too)! Here are some ideas that you can also use with other fancy dresses, so you can wear them for every day. Layer a Blouse Over This was my first idea on how to style the dress and I was so glad the outfit turned out as I imagined.…

It’s my Birthday! I am 50!
I never thought I would be looking forward to being 50. I think I dreaded turning 30, I was fine turning 40, but I am pretty proud of being 50. I am in good health (I have been working on my nutrition for the past couple of months and am curious as to how my numbers will look later this month for my yearly physical), I try to move 5 times a week, and have good sleep habits. I am a mother of 4 boys, one in college, one in high school, one in middle school and one in primary school. Yes, they are each at different schools and will…

Another Fun Look from Just BeYoutiful Boutique
One of my funnest shopping experience every year is when I shop at Just BeYoutiful Boutique in Surprise, AZ with Jodie. This year, I really struck gold and came home with a lot of fun clothes and I have been wearing them all since then. This look combines 2 pieces from the boutique with my accessories and a cute bodysuit-like tank I found in Scottsdale. I wore this to my son’s yearly physical: he is running cross country again this fall. I was all ready to check out when someone pointed out the bolero and I knew this little piece of sunshine would be a great addition to my closet.…
