Street Style: Monochrome Black with Red Coat

You know me, I love to shop my closet and today’s outfit is inspired by Pinterest. I don’t often wear my leggings anymore but they are comfortable on cold days where I especially want a cozy fit. When I was browsing for some ideas on how to wear my red peacoat which I have had for at least 10 years, I came across this simple outfit and decided it would be a great one to replicate and wear. The morning of the day I took these pictures, my sister in law gave me a black oversized t-shirt one of her customers gave her. I really like the saying, so I…

Mini Skirt with Chunky Sweater Inspired By Grace per Wear

Once again, I am inspired by one of my blogging friends to put together some items from my closet in a new way. When I walked out the door with this on, my husband was very complimentary: I guess now I need to wear it out for real and not just blog pictures. You can stop by Grace’s blog here to see my inspiration look! I don’t wear my long socks very often to where you can see them, but I really like how Grace’s socks looked, so I copied that part of her outfit too. It’s hard to see in this particular picture, but the boots are black while…

Inspired by Nancy: Vest, Leopard and Denim

I cannot believe how many inspired by looks I’ve been able to recreate lately! While this one is only loosely based on Nancy’s look (some are closer to the inspiration), it was definitely an outfit that I want to create and wear after bookmarking her blog post. Here is the original post for you to visit! In her outfits, Nancy is wearing a leopard tee and black strappy sandals, but since I had neither, I choose a pair of black booties and this long leopard sleeve tee. The top feels like a light sweatshirt, and was thrifted a few years ago. Now that I think about it the White House,…

Inspired by Jill: Cargo Skirt and Black

One of the ways that inspires me to shop my closet is to find inspiration for outfits from others, typically bloggers I have followed for a while. I have gotten a little particular about some of the accounts I follow on IG because I do get tired of the mentality of buy buy buy. One of the things I like about Jill from Doused in Pink is that she often shares post where she shares several ways to wear an item or shares a collection of outfits she has worn following a theme (for example how to wear leopard print over 50). In a recent post, she shared 3 ways…

Bright Dress with Blazer Inspired by Laura (IdoDeclaire)

At the beginning of September, Laura shared a floral dress and how she would transition it for fall in this post. The fuschia and pink colors in her dress made me think of this thrifted dress of mine and her liquid leather jacket from Clara Sunwoo made me think of my thrifted blazer. So that is how this outfit was born! I didn’t really think about how both pieces were thrifted until I wrote this post. That is the beauty of buying versatile pieces and of taking notes when you see someone wear a combo that looks fun. I quite often take screen shots of an outfit while browsing my…

Outfit Inspiration for Fall with White Boots

When I received my white boots (thrifted in Arizona, see blog post here), the first thing I did was browse Pinterest to find some ideas on how to style them. When I pin ideas, I make sure that I am pinning outfits that I can recreate with what is already in my closet and not something that I would have to go out and buy. I pinned several ideas and this was one of my favorites. White boots, brown pattern skirt, white top and oversized denim jacket: you can definitely see the inspiration of the outfit in mine even though the pieces are not identical, but similar. I do not…

Week of Outfits: Last Week of August

I really enjoy Jodie’s (Jtouchofstyle) weekly outfit share on Saturdays because it is real life and often gives me some inspiration for outfits of my own. This week’s outfits are very varied once again and several were inspired by some of the IG ladies I follow. They inspired to put together outfits from my closet that I hadn’t thought of paired together before. But first came my weekend outfits which usually is two a day since we go to church both Saturday night and Sunday morning. Saturday My 6 year old learned how to ride his bike last week, so today was a little try out for a longer ride…

Patriotic Looks to Be Inspired By

Even though, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day have gone by, I thought I would share some inspiration for patriotic looks that you can wear any day of the year or bookmark to be inspired by for some outfits next summer. I love wearing patriotic colors without actually wearing a flag (I used to wear an Old Navy patriotic tee each year in the past) and be more subtle in dressing for holidays. Each of these were worn the week of the 4th of July. Embroidered Top and Bermuda Shorts I thrifted this Caite and Kyla top on Poshmark a few years ago and I wear it a few…

Tan Vest Outfits Inspired by Jodie and KellyAnn

For the past 6-8 months, I have seen different friends sharing cute outfits with tan vests on IG and on their blogs. I’ve checked the aisles while thrifting but haven’t come across any vests so far. Finally, in June, I did a little internet search and saw that Belk carried some tan vests. Since our little town has a Belk,  I decided to see if they carried any in store since I really like to try things on before ordering online. They had something I liked in size medium, but it was too big, so I ordered it in size small. Perfect! Inspired by Jodie By now, you know that…

    Mimic Monday with Jodie

When I spent the weekend in Arizona with Jodie, we took the time to take two sets of blog pictures. The first set featuring beige monochromatic outfits, I shared a week or so ago. For today’s post, Jodie and I chose one of each other’s past outfits to mimic. I did a search of spring outfits on her website, and this one caught my attention since I knew I had a similar style burgundy blouse. While I do not have bright pants like hers, I thought my white pants provided a sharp contrast to the burgundy top, and after buying these fun heels, I selected them instead of my striped…
